Stories need conflict to thrive. The Roleplay Community benefits from having muns that play antagonistic characters. Characters that not all others muses will like and get along with. Muses who do fucked up shit and love it. It can be lonely playing a character that everyone wants to treat like a punching bag, or wants to walk over, or ignore.

So far I’m having a chill day, got some happy birthday wishes from relatives.

FRIENDLY REMINDER:  Read a roleplayer’s rules before following. I cannot stress enough how important this is. They were written for a very important reason. 

Some people follow back immediately. Some people might not follow back until you have a thread with them. Some people only want to follow writing partners. Some people want to follow whoever happens to catch their eye. Some people will only ship with one person. Some people want multiple ships. Some people have triggers that should be taken into consideration. Some people are accustomed to writing about darker themes. Some people track something different from their url. Some people only want to participate in plotted threads. Honestly, the list only goes on from here.

If they say they’ll post something for you later but don’t get around to it or forgot, don’t go into their IMs crying about how they lied to you. Real life happens and roleplay takes a backseat to it.

If they need to take a break from social media for a bit, don’t come at them every five minutes asking when they’re going to come back. Don’t be passive aggressive about it when they don’t work things completely around your schedule.

If your roleplay partner doesn’t answer your asks right away or answers other asks ahead of yours, don’t vague post about it to guilt them into writing with you.

one thing I believe should be more heavily influenced in the roleplay community ( that really isn’t respected ) is the RIGHT OF REFUSAL. not everyone has to say yes to a roleplay, even if you delivered sugar-coated candied comments abt their portrayal / characterization / etc. if you give those things, it should be from your HEART, and not because you are attempting to ENTICE them into writing with you.

with refusal comes MAJOR ANXIETY – most writers don’t feel comfortable saying that they don’t want to write with someone, and it is because they want to avoid hurting their feelings. believe it or not, there are KIND ways of telling someone you don’t have an interest in writing with them – and those ways should be respected. do not make someone FEEL BAD for not wanting to write with you; and do not FORCE them to tell you their reasoning. as long as they are kind, you should respect their decision and not be rude towards them.
