isabelle lifted her eyes from her laptop as gabe carried on, listening carefully as he spoke. it was strange that the boy had been a stranger just years before, but now– gabe was family. “ah, dating and parenthood. both very, very strange phenomenons, don’t you think?” she raised her eyebrows, tapping her fingernails along the tabletop, “how’s are the kids? the pets, i mean. checked in on them lately?” she reached over, lifting her water bottle to her lips and taking a drink only to choke on it moments later. “absolutely not,” she said, coughing and wiping her chin, “braeden and i– aren’t even– we’re more like–…” she pursed her lips and searched for the words, only shrugging instead. “there aren’t labels there, but if there were to be a label, i’d say we’re pretty much dating,” she couldn’t help the grin on her lips as she glanced over at gabe, “no labels is probably for the better. harder for me to fuck up.” she lowered the screen of her laptop and rested her chin in her hand. “how’s that going? the engagement thing?” 

gabe laughed at the comment, alex did actually treat the pets like they were children and he couldn’t deny that he was prone to a bit of babying himself. it didn’t help that alex was desperate for children, but this was not the time for them, yet. he had to dote his care and affection on something else in the mean time. “yeah, skype calls, the lot. taylor has really taken little koda in as her own. what with them both waddling around with their incredibly tiny legs. and xavier absolutely loves it when he gets to stay with my dad - they just lay around and read books all day. or well, my dad reads books and xavier keeps him warm, the old man life.” it was actually quite adorable seeing isabelle looking shy, it was something he was getting used to when braeden was mentioned. honestly, he loved it, but gabe always did have a habit of trying to encourage these types of things. something about being with alex had turned him into a hopeless romantic. “so a no label dating type thing. i get it.” he took a couple of sips from his mug, letting the tea rid him of the bitter london chill that had settled in the air. “it’s going well, just trying to get alex to stop spending his damn money so we can save up for some sort of...future. he went ahead and got me my mothers favorite painting from the museum -- you know, the one he proposed to me in front of. i wanna say i’m pissed at him but it doesn’t really work that way.”

“Ah, Dakota. I’m heartbroken that she’s left before my arrival, as that girl is one of my favourites. We danced together, actually, ever since we helped each other with our ballerina buns when we were kids. Love, care, a little sprinkle of plea. Hand washing them too. I’m forever grateful that I’ve yet to get a new pair or that the grips are in tact because I’d need to save whatever money I can. Oh, sorry to hear ‘bout that. Do you do competitions and all? I’d love to come to one - or even have you teach me a few tricks as I’d probably wince at every hit. How ‘bout it though? Think you can somehow fit a pair of gloves onto my hands? The best of the best, by far. As much as I’d gladly whip out a glass for you to see, I reckon you save your energy for your beloved.”

“I would have love to have seen the two of you dancing around here with your little tutus. That sounds marginally creepy - does it counteract because I’m gay? Probably not. What if I said I wanted a tutu, too? I don’t do them often, they tend to bring in larger crowds than they are prepared for. And then there’s always the chance of it getting press and it never really goes well. My manager is always too concerned about my nose, especially now I have other jobs. But sure, I’d love to teach you some stuff. You’ll be able to knock the guys out. You might be right, he gets incredibly needy when the sun goes down.”
