One of the biggest difference between movies and comics is that actors get older and some of them are going to want to move on from the role. Not everyone wants to do the same job forever and they're not obligated to keep playing the same character. They can't regenerate like the Doctor and people aren't going to except a James Bond situation at this point. Luckily Marvel has hundreds of characters and plenty of the heroes titles have been taken by other characters.

"abandoned his friends" he was gone for 5 seconds. there is no way anyone thinks he abandoned his friends unless what you're actually saying is that Steve not being young and hot and shippable with the characters in the present makes him inherently worthless. there is no other explanation for why the reaction to him being out of their lives for 5 seconds (meanwhile they weren't around for 5 years of his life) and then returning to them is seen as equivalent of abandonment. as if he as good as never came back

the movie where the solution that was found to a bunch of vigilantes working under no country's affiliation to eradicate a massive all powerful nazi organization that had infiltrated the government of the most powerful nation in the world...was to keep them entirely at the beck and call of the UN which is ruled by 5 of the most Imperialistic nations in the world and has never done anything except make every crisis situation these same 5 nations create in every country worse. Oh and then assign these super powered vigilantes to an infamously power obsessed and super serum obsessed US General to have complete authority over.

ngl i think the thing i hate most about tony is that ONLY he gets to have PTSD. like the tortured POW brainwashed into murder. nah. the child kidnapped and trained to murder and sterilised like a dog. nada. the soldier who lost everything he knows overnight. nope. the child horrifically orphaned in a war zone. no. just the guy who is most able to get treatment. and doesnt.

And when Steve’s trauma is so overwhelming he literally regresses a dozen years, to the point where he mocks his past self, it’s depicted as right, good, and a means to love.  The uncomfortable fact that this level of damage makes him a poor risk for any kind of productive life without extensive therapy, let alone a “beautiful” marriage to a woman who is far more professionally successful than he is during an extremely sexist time period, is completely skipped.  And sorry, but mental health therapy during the 1950′s consisted either of Freudian analysis (which he would not dare undergo for fear of revealing his identity), electroshock (which wouldn’t work thanks to the serum), lobotomy (ditto), or heavy doses of first-generation drugs like thorazine (again, ditto).  The odds that he’d be so emotionally unstable as to verge on abuse are much higher than anyone is willing to admit. 

this is such an odd addition to the original post like an ask about how other characters' traumas, should matter as much as Tony's is the one you really decided to shoe horn your "endgame steve not my Steve because he isn't allowed to have a life away from bucky" agenda in?

I just thought about how T*ny did not give Steve his actual shield back and gave him a far inferior dupe and got angry all over again.

I'm sorry I have to point something out a lot people in the fandom call out Tony because he made 14yr old Peter fight for him in civil war and let him join the avengers which has caused a lot of the bad things that has happened to Peter (which I do agree with don't get me wrong) but I wanna talk about civil war because Steve kinda similar thing with Wanda. In the scene where Steve almost signs the accords but doesn't because Tony tells him that Wanda is confined at the compound and let's face it the only reason she was is bc Tony negotiated it with the government if he didn't she definitely would've been thrown in jail so surely the compound was better than the alternative.

what. you literally YOURSELF said Wanda is a grown woman in her 20s. Steve didn't 'allow' her or not allow her to do anything because she is a grown adult and because he respects her as a human being. something Tony Stark who calls people "weapons of mass destruction" never learns how to. Wanda is in that fight because she wants to be there.

you're all so dumb. Tony stark sold weapons to the biggest fascist terrorist organisation in the world to destroy the global south with. and his super power is the money he earned doing this. and he never stopped because he even once thought he was wrong. he stopped because his weapons fell into brown hands instead of the white ones he made them for.
