Hairstyles that have made it in 2015so far and I must say it’s the year for the clean cut and rough look gentlemen. If you not doing any of these! you haven’t met my barber:

So lately I’ve been seeing a lot of black men and women campaigning for a “..stop doing this in 2016..” Movement and at the subject has been these hairstyles right here. Natural high top hawks, full beards and Locs. They dismiss these styles like trends that are flavor of the month and need to disappear. Here’s why that’s a problem…

Since the dawn of the Black Lives Matter movement, smaller movements have been birthed. One of those movements has been black people embracing their natural hair. For a while, this movement has been targeted towards Black women but for the past year and a half, we have seen in influx on Black men doing the same. More importantly, young black men. A barber is a Black man’s savior so the caesar cut or the bald fade will never die, but Black men embracing their natural hair.. BUT ALSO, refining decade long styles and making them look trendy is something we have not seem before amongst our community.

So its been really disappointing to see many of my own people wanting to get rid of these styles, when they fail to realize how this enhances our culture and identity in a world whose European standars of beauty silences our progress in the fashion/beauty world.

Braids were looked ar as thuggish a d ghetto, but now have evolved into high fashion, edgy, sexy styles. When Black ppl would get outlandish colors in theur hair (green, pink, blue) it waas ratchet but now that ppl like Katy Perry, Kylie Jenner are doing it…somehow its edgy and high fashion.
