Staying with my Uncle and Aunt. Learning some of my New Yorker heritage. First two photos are of my uncle when he was my age. Next one is of my grandfather - who was evidently a Hells Angel named Claude Sheldon III. Made it to The Little House On The Prairie Laura Engvall Wilder - author of the books of the Little House books (Which sparked the beloved tv series ALSO of the same name) grew up in this puny house with her parents and her 5 siblings. So long Iowa. Made it to Minneapolis, where I'm finally meeting my aunt and uncle. I hope things have calmed down - I plan to see George Floyds memorial while I'm here, and maybe take in some of the chaotic aftermath of these many tragedies. Forgot to post the picture of this mangy old cat from the farm. She's 19 years old. She's always in pain and when she meows it sounds like "Owww" and I thought that was pretty funny. This kid is the GREATEST OF ALL TIME Finally said goodbye to Wacky and left Cedar Rapids. I'm very depressed about that. Headed north to Minneapolis. Im staying with an Orchard farmer in Waterloo. Lot of lost and scared little animals out here. Found this little toad on the road in the middle of the suburbs. Dry as hell and didnt even try to escape. Luckily, I knew about a large pond loaded with toads and frogs a couple miles away (Its loud enough from croaking to hear from looong before you get there.) Fireflies lit my way the whole time I walked him there. Set him by the pulpy fly infested waters and he fit right in. I'm really going to miss Iowa. I know there's grass, but this is actually on top of a very steep bypass overlooking a huge railroad. Found this little fella all alone a few days ago frozen stiff with fear and slightly injured on the tip of his tail. Picked him up and walked him to some tall grass beside a creek about a mile away. He was pretty weak when I found him - usually garder snakes kind of freak out and try to get away but this little fella could barely kift his head. If he hasnt survived, than I hope if anything this little guy passed peacefully sorrounded by nature instead of terrified by the highway.
