DEAR RESEARCHERS OF TUMBLR
You know what’s awesome? Research. You know what’s not awesome? Not being able to get access to research because it’s stuck behind a paywall and you don’t belong to an institution/your institution doesn’t subscribe to that particular journal.
FEAR NOT.
Here is a list of free, open access materials on a variety of subjects. Feel free to add if you like!
GO FORTH AND LEARN SHIT, MY FRIENDS.
Directory of Open Access Journals- A compendium of over 9000 journals from 133 countries, multilingual and multidisciplinary.
Directory of Open Access Books- Like the above, but for ebooks. Also multidisciplinary.
Ubiquity Press- Journals covering archaeology, comics scholarship, museum studies, psychology, history, international development, and more. Also publishes open access ebooks on a wide variety of subjects.
Europeana- Digital library about the history and culture of Europe.
Digital Public Library of America- American history, culture, economics, SO MUCH AMERICA.
Internet Archive- In addition to books, they have music and videos, too. Free! And legal! They also have the Wayback Machine, which lets you see webpages as they looked at a particular time.
College and Research Libraries- Library science and information studies. Because that’s what I do.
Library of Congress Digital Collections- American history and culture, historic newspapers, sound recordings, photographs, and a ton of other neat stuff.
LSE Digital Library- London history, women’s history.
Wiley Open Access- Science things! Neurology, medicine, chemistry, ecology, engineering, food science, biology, psychology, veterinary medicine.
SpringerOpen- Mainly STEM journals, looooong list.
Elsevier Open Access- Elsevier’s kind of the devil but you might as well take advantage of this. Mainly STEM, also a linguistics journal and a medical journal in Spanish.
Remember Takato, you promised!!!
I finished rewatching Tamer’s today. I forgot it ended that way and I was sobbing. It’s so good.

Myself and Quagsire.
Momentie.
My first serious water color painting. I say that because I’m sure I water colored when I was younger, but I had no idea what I was doing.
Painting was inspired because I struggle with anxiety and this is an affirmation that I enjoy. Even though I’m aware that I don’t have total control of how I’m feeling, affirmations tend to help me have more perceived control.
Painting I made recently. I’m still learning how to create more realistic art.
My orange and white kitty passed away last year, so this is sort of like an homage to her.
I miss you, Tiger.
Some quick sketches of Pooh Bear and Piglet :) been working on my shading. Piglet was done with graphite pencils in my sketchbook. Pooh was done on procreate.

My New Friend - Bumble the Bee
I have an interesting story to share. Dad and I went on a 4 mile walk today. I found this bee laying in the road. I put my stick down to it and it crawled up onto it. The bee walked with me about 3.85 miles. When it would fall off, I’d reach down and it would crawl back on. When we were almost home, he fell off in the grass and wouldn’t crawl back on, so I left him in the grass. I’m not sure what was wrong with him, but I hope he gets better.
Weekly Review #1
Well, it is currently Friday night/Saturday morning. I need to go to sleep, but I’m still working on laundry. My brain is still running, so I figured I would take the time to start writing this post. I had the idea a few days ago that maybe I could start doing weekly/monthly updates on my blog. Along with my recent endeavors on the creative aspect, I think it would be cool to see how I’m doing mentally and physically as well.
I thought I was going to be unemployed this summer. Turns out, I’m not. I was recruited to be a sub for the summer school program. I’ve already worked three days this week. It’s pretty great because I can work when I want and can still take time off to relax and travel if I want. Also, no lesson plans! It’s been pretty fun so far. I’ve been in elementary school, which is super different from high school in a lot of ways. I have had fun though, just super tired. Just today I’ve probably sung part of the Little Einstein’s theme song a good 40 times.
If you’ve been around me for a while, you would be somewhat aware of my weight loss journey. Long story short, I have lost around 70 pounds over the last few years. Over the past two, I have plateaued. I still want to lose about 20ish more pounds. A couple of weeks ago, I was at a follow-up appointment with my allergy and asthma doctor. Conveniently, he also has his master's in nutrition. Knowing this, I asked him what I should do. Since then, I’ve been counting calories, which isn’t as hard as I remember when I tried it before. I’ve also picked up running, which I’ve come to enjoy and that’s something I never thought I’d say. I even purchased a treadmill for days when I can’t make it to the outdoor track. It’s been challenging, but it’s a challenge I enjoy. Even though my doctor told me how to lose the remaining weight, he also told me he was proud of me for the work that I’ve already done. It’s not easy and I still struggle with my body image daily. Hearing someone tell you that they are proud of you is such a help and will never go unappreciated. Also, if you are reading this and are thinking about trying to lose weight, please go and talk to a professional. I have read a bunch of techniques on the internet that did not work for me. Everyone is different and their bodies have different needs.
I believe that is all for my first weekly/monthly (?) update. I hope that you enjoyed reading this. If you did, feel free to message me and let me know. I’d love to share more about my fitness journey as I feel comfortable. I’d also love to keep sharing my journey through education because that is a road that I am very new to and unsure where it will take me.Thank you for reading and I will catch you next time!
Sketch of Blaziken I did today. I finally evolved one in PokemonGo and felt the need to celebrate the occasion.
Fan art that I did last year of Goliath from Gargoyles. I used to love this show when I was younger and have recently been rewatching it on Disney+. I was still learning how to use Procreate when I drew this and was experimenting with shadows.
YouTube Channel
Hello everyone! My “internet journey” if you will started a little over 3 years ago on YouTube. After I graduated college, I started posting videos of myself playing music as well as a plethora of other things. I haven’t posted in awhile, but I’m hoping to get come videos up now that I have more free time. If you’d like to see the musical side of me, this would be the best place to start.

About Me
hello and welcome to my tumblr! This is a website where I post about all of my hobbies. Trust me, I have a ton.
During the school year, I am a teacher. Considering it is currently summer when I’m updating this blog, I am currently unemployed. I have decided to try to do a few things and make myself some money here and there, and that will help me pay my car payment.
I have recently gotten into drawing and making custom greeting cards. Please send me a message and we can talk about designing one for your special day! $5
I will also do old photo restorations! I am still new to this and learning new techniques, but message me and we will talk!
I am also learning more and more about graphic design, so if you have an idea, send it my way and I’ll see what I can do.
I will also consider doing private music lessons. I have experience in percussion and could teach drum set, snare, xylophone, and glockenspiel (bells) - rate is negotiable.
I also have my bachelor's degree in music. I am open to doing audio and video sessions. please contact me for more information.
Also, etsy shop coming soon. :)
