THE NEXT DAY
Ryan didn’t know how to word the thoughts that were jumbled around in his head until Stephanie was about halfway down the hallway. He couldn’t just let her leave like that. He did it once but it wasn’t happening for a second time today. He moved into a light jog and stopped in front of her. “I’m not letting you walk away from me again.” He said softly as he wiped away the falling tears from Stephanie’s face. “You were never just “some girl” to me. Yeah, I have a tendency to use and run through girls often, but from the moment we met, you meant something to me. And with every moment we spent together, things changed even more and yeah, that freaked me out too but I’m not dumb enough to not admit it.” He said with a small smile. “You’re definitely not gross or a slut.. You’re a princess… You’re perfect… And you’re mine.” Ryan said softly before leaning down and kissing her lips tenderly, one of his arms wrapped around her waist while the other moved to her hair. “You broke me leaving like you did this morning. Please don’t do it again.” He said before pressing a kiss to her forehead. “This is scary, I’ll agree. But we’ll be scared shitless together, okay?”
Stephanie was shocked to say the least, not having expected him to stop her. She closed her eyes as wiped her tears, a weak smile pulling at her lips as he spoke. His, she thought. And he was hers. They were each others-- that she could get use to. When his lips hit her she kissed back instantly, putting one of her hands on his neck as the other rested on his chest. When he spoke again, she was a bit saddened by his words. She'd left. She'd almost lost him. But she didn't. "Never ever again." she said softly before he continued. She then finally opened her eyes, fully smiling now as she answered happily and quietly, "Okay." She then bit her lip as she smiled, her smile wider than it had been before. Yeah she was scared, but she didn't have to run nor did she want to. She was safer than ever right here in his arms.
