Hey everyone! I don’t usually participate on Wednesdays—hence the less than excellent banner—but receiving several tags had me inspired, and I’m quite fond of something I wrote last night.

So thanks for the writing tags, @stellarmeadow, @mooncello, and @that-disabled-princess! And thank you to @anincompletelist and @probablily for the WIP game tags! My post is gonna be a combination of the two.

First, some firstprince:

“What was the Queen’s verdict?”

“She said I must know that my father lost a father, that father lost, lost his, but to persevere in obstinate condolement is a course of impious stubbornness.” Henry rubs his eyes with the heels of his hands. “’Tis unmanly grief.”

Alex’s head cocks to the side. “King Claudius?” 

“Yes, actually—you’ve read it?”

“Excuse me, Mr. Oxbridge, of course I’ve read Hamlet,” Alex snorts. “And more importantly, I’ve seen The Lion King.”

“Mm. Original or live-action?”

“Original, obviously.” There’s a lull of quiet on the call, then, “I’m sorry, baby.”

This fic should be the next thing I post, some good ol hurt/comfort. And icymi, I posted a short firstprince fic this past Sunday, too.

Second, my WIPs! I’ll list them in vague terms since titling is my final step, lol. Send me an ask if you want to hear more about one in specific, I’ll share snippets, concepts, origins, whatever comes to mind!

“I like you.” Henry regrets the words the instant they come out of his mouth. Alex looks equally shocked. “What? You mean like…” “A lot, actually.” “For… for how long?” Alex asks, swallowing hard. Christ. Since the moment I saw you. “Four months.”  Alex can do the math. He started on December 3. Henry trained him.  “I just, um… I’ll be right back,” Alex says, one thumb gesturing behind him before he turns and flees into the back room. Henry heaves out a heavy sigh, his heart thundering in his ears. Bollocks.

Christmas was everything Henry has ever wanted. Thomas danced around singing with Bea and Martha as Henry played Christmas music on the piano. June and Nora rarely left each other's sides for the whole holiday season. Henry wonders if Alex has caught on to the two yet.

But his husband, his beautiful, brilliant husband, doesn't always see what's right in front of him.
