What makes me laugh about Effie Trinket and Hayffie haters is like... She got tortured. Like Book!Effie straight up got tortured to the point of potentially permanent psychological damage... You won (at least in the books)... If you hate her that much just revel in the fact that she was brutally tortured (you fucking weirdo), and let those who are actually willing to read between the lines and able expand on her character and see nuance and have empathy for a victim of a totalitarian regime and want to use her as an example of Capitol/District alliance/love (because even if you don't believe in hayffie Effie loved Peeta).

Like sorry that I find her character incredibly compelling and sorry that I also love the idea of a Hunger Games victor slowly and perhaps a little unwillingly falling in love with someone who he should resent but can't because she showed him kindness from the moment they met (SC did NOT have to do all that), and sorry that I think that it's stupid to paint all Capitol residents as bloodthirsty monsters (hasn't ever been Canon, Cinna, Plutarch, Tigress etc) except I'm not sorry at all because if you hate Effie because she's Capitol and wears silly clothes and participates in the Hunger Games then I'm gonna assume you're not very good at understanding/empathising with why people act the way they do under totalitarianism and that Susanne Collins went out of her way to spell it out for you in SOTR that Effie didn't even want to be involved in the Games and had reservations about them even when it was dangerous to do so and immediately showed kindness not just to Haymitch but to the other D12 tributes and her sister so idk man I think you're just kind of boring but if you wanna hate her you can just remember she probably got her fingernails pulled out or whatever smh
