Screenshot it and post online.. tell ur mates to do the same! 🎶
Why?
The CEO of Spotify invested AUD $1.07 BILLION into AI weapons company Helsing who specialise in drones like the “HX-2 AI strike drone”, underwater swarm systems, and AI software.
If that already hasn't got your skin crawling, alternative streaming services have incredible sound quality and better pay for artists.
Alternatives include Quboz and Tidal streaming services, which pay artists about 6x and 3-4x Spotify's payouts, and nearly 10x and 6x YouTube Music's payouts (respectively).
The sound quality is fkn stunning, sounding better from one of these hi-def output platforms through a portable speaker, compared to Spotify of Apple Music playing on an expensive high-fidelity stereo system. Give them a try w free or seriously cheap 30-60 day trial periods.
Prepare to be amazed at what you've been missing!! Cymbal shimmers, textures of the instruments and details in the song you've never heard before. I don't work for them but wish I did! Fuck AI WEAPONS and senseless killing!!
As far as supporting the artists further, Bandcamp pays artists over 80% of the music & merch purchases, and 100% on Bandcamp Fridays.. THAT'S TODAY!
What about my liked songs and playlists? There are easy to use transfer music tools, such as tunemymusic.com and soundiiz.com, which offer free trials with 500 and 200 song limits or paid plans around AUD$12, where you can pay once, and when the transfer is done, cancel it. It even suggests it on their websites.
Songs that aren't transferred are listed at the end of the operation, where you might have to do some manual adding, which is still significantly less hassle than getting attacked by an AI drone!
I'm an artist, how can I get my music off this bloody platform, or switch music distributors!?
Before you take the plunge transfer your music using the new platform's tools so you don't lose your listens and shares.
Then once they're uploaded can take down your tracks easily from Spotify and upload them to other services using a music Distro service like Too Lost, LANDR, or Amuse, TuneCore, or Distrokid.
Luckily there's also tools in which you can switch music distributors, for example from Distrokid to Too Lost, where they have a focus on DIY artists and better customer service.
Post your action with #boycottspotify to share the love and inspire others to do the same! You'll be joining artists like MASSIVE ATTACK, Deerhoof, and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard acting against AI weaponry!! Love, love is a verb, love is a doing word.. see you on the other side :)
