This didn’t happen this way in the anime… I’m pretty sure Ikki is a Brain-Charger…
It’s fairly likely that Ikki is a Brain Charger, for reasons I’ll just mention under a cut because not everyone on the dash has actually finished the manga.
Long story short: it’s never been explicitly mentioned in the manga, but there’s a very large probability that Ikki is related, in some way or another, to Uncle Minami/Minami Rinta--considering their shared surnames, the fact that Uncle Minami left Ikki with Rika + co., and the recurrent theme of him desiring to “fly”.
This last one is essential to the identity of a Brain Charger, because the whole reason why they’re a BC is the fact that they’ve been mentally conditioned to desire to fly no matter the consequences or methods to do such a thing.
The reason why this is significant is that Uncle Minami was in charge of the whole Gravity Child and Brain Charger projects. You know. The person who actually created them in the first place.
