The Lonely Farmhouse

Because this house has been abandoned for so long, the exterior is starting to look very weathered and decayed, let's check it out!

Abandoned for well over a decade, this house sits in a quiet area of the province and is located down a very long driveway. The road leading into the home is extremely overgrown with debris completely blocking the way. Once you finally get to the house, it is almost hidden amongst all the trees, even during the sparse winter season.

This was a farmhouse and it sits surrounded by working fields. A family once lived here, there are children's toys, some furniture and even clothing, left behind. The strangest thing is all of the garbage that is strewn about the property, bottles and cans litter the land surrounding the home.

and finally, we move upstairs to see what the bedrooms had in store and then we also check out the two smaller buildings on the property, one that was just jam packed full of stuff!

On the outskirts of a large town I stumbled upon an abandoned equestrian centre. There was the main house, an older small wooden barn that was once used to house horses, a steel storage garage as well as an even larger modern building that was used for riding and boarding of the horses. The property had only been abandoned for about 2 years at the time of my visit but the land was very overgrown, with trees, bushes and weeds slowly enveloping the buildings. There was even an outdoor pool that had not been used for several years, the lining peeling away but still filled with water creating its own unique ecosystem.

Because of it's desirable location and the sprawling land that surrounded the buildings, the owners were offered a generous sum of money to sell the property. The buildings were demolished only a few short months after my visit but the land is currently sitting vacant. There are plans to build 139 new mixed use housing units on the property, supplying a few more much needed homes.

Moving inside the home, we get to see what the main floor looked like and we also head over to the riding facility!

Now we move to the second home, that is far more modern than the first, it's also where the developer left a lot of samples to decay as the house slowly gets reclaimed!

These two little post war homes would have been great for a growing family, they were relatively small and even had large yards to go along with them. Unfortunately, they now sit abandoned and rotting away.

The first house was great, it was colourful, had a lot of vintage decor and the previous inhabitants were nice enough to leave a lot of belongings behind to make the explore even more enjoyable. Although my time here did creep me out a little bit, there were signs that a squatter had once been living inside one of the bedrooms and I was half expecting to run into him!

The second home felt a little smaller, with a more open concept, it was also more modern. It had a lot of supplies, like wood, tile and stone samples, presumably for prospective clients to see when considering one of the new homes that would be built here. It was rotten though, lots of mold in the basement and it looked as though some hooligans had come in and damaged the house.

These two homes along with one more property were bought by a development company. The plans are too build a new 6 storey condo but with a slowing market, it may be a while before this project breaks ground.

Now, let's take a look inside my favourite of the two houses where they left a lot of stuff behind!

To finish off this week's post of the abandoned motel, we move downstairs where it is just as messy as the second floor and check out the hoarder room as well as the garbage room with a surprise!

Along a very busy road, this motel was once a popular stop for weary travellers but in today's evolving society, there's no longer space for a mid century mom and pops roadside motel. Today, it sits abandoned.

This motel had a bit of a reputation, there are numerous reviews from guests that stayed here, some of the terms they used to describe it were, dirty, smelly, bed bugs, rude owner and even a scary place.

The motel housed a lot of long term tenants, many of which had mental health and addiction problems and there was drug paraphernalia left in some of the rooms. Other rooms had signs of parents living with their children, with the kids toys left behind.

On New Years Day of 2025, a man was shot outside the motel and the suspect was wanted for attempted murder. Then only two months later, a fire started outside one of the end units on the second floor and it caused about $450,000 worth of damage. The motel closed and now it sits forgotten and abandoned.

And for our final post from this incredible location, we get to see the foyer, with the blazingly red carpet, the garage with all sorts of stuff left behind, as well as a couple more rooms from the basement with some great decorating details!

Upon arrival, the husband, established a truck repair company, he also designed and manufactured a form of transportation that proved to be very successful and would be used by large organisations throughout North America. Unfortunately, he passed away shortly after this success and the company was sold, but the proceeds provided his wife with a long and comfortable life.

Today, we move back upstairs to check out some of the colourful wallpaper and carpeting left in this abandoned home. We also get to see the kitchen, along with the dining room!

And for our final post from this unusual location, we dive into some detail shots of the items of clothing left behind, explore a couple more rooms including the graffiti room where the drum set used to be located!

When I first visited this location several years ago, I believe it had just closed and the church hadn't fully moved out of the space yet. The building was still full of everything, there was a drum set in one of the rooms and the offices were left as if they had just mysteriously walked out one afternoon. Then a couple years later, I made a return trip and this time, the building was definitely fully abandoned, it was pretty much completely empty. Then another year or so later, I would return to find a completely different scenario.

As I walked into the nave, I noticed hundreds of boxes, upon closer inspection, they were all completely full too. They mostly consisted of licensed sports apparel, everything from socks to jackets, there were also a few cases of diapers. It turns out, this old abandoned church had been briefly used for a donation centre, to help Ukrainians affected by the ongoing conflicts. There was even a message on one of the packed pallets saying they were to be shipped, the date was only a few months earlier. There were a couple of other rooms with items left behind as well but you will have to check out the video to see what we found.
