CRTs will pretty much never continue to work if the screen is cracked all the way through. There's a couple different possibilities but here's some main key points.

CRTs have incredibly thick, vacume sealed glass tubes that house a number of different components that allow them to work. Occasionally they can get surface level cracks that don't go all the way through the thick glass. If this happens then the structural integrity of the glass is compromised and it's incredibly dangerous to move the CRT around and keep using it. If the crack gets worse this can lead to one of two other options.

Implosion. CRTs are under intense vacume force and part of why large CRTs weigh a ton is because the larger a vacume, the more pressure it exerts, which means it needs thicker glass and more reinforcement to not cave in on itself and explode. If the screen cracks, there's the chance the TV will just explode and possibly catch on fire alongside becoming a massive elecution risk. The bigger the TV the bigger the potential implosion, and Tenna is a very large CRT meaning if his screen broke, it could result in a pretty agressive implosion and Tenna would probably just be dead.

The other potential possibility is complete vacume loss. CRTs need the cathode tube to be a complete vacume otherwise the electron gun can't draw frames on the screen. If Tenna were to lose his vacume seal, he wouldn't be able to display image really at all. No distortion or anything, just nothing. Blank dead screen even if you continue to hear the flyback transformer emitting the iconic CRT whine.

Speaking of, the thing in a CRT that makes the whining noise is called the flyback transformer. Flyback transformers store incredibly high voltage inside them, even if the TV is off and/or unplugged and it can hold onto this charge for years, so even if a CRT has been sitting without power for a long time, it's still an electrocution risk. Flybacks for CRTs also are no longer manufactured so if it breaks, it's extraordinarily unlikely that you can find a replacement and the replacement HAS to be exactly compatible otherwise it will not work.

This is all just random things I know and I am by no means a CRT expert obviously but it just gives some interesting things to think about.
