ā¦ You know, Iāve been seeing a lot of people assume that āwhere the forest would growā must mean the forest surrounding the Shelter. I mean, it certainly makes sense considering this is a place we know the Dreemurr and Holiday Kids have explored in the pastā¦
And the growing importance of the Shelter itselfā¦
But I do think itās not the only option right now. I mean, not only is the entirely of Hometown surrounded by a forest (not just the area near the Shelter), butā¦.
The thing I keep coming back to is the words āwhere the forest would growā. This is a āfuture in the pastā tense, the grammar here implies that the forest grew after the children got lost in that area. But obviously, the forest around Hometown doesnāt seem like something that couldāve grown after/during Krisā childhoodā¦ those trees are decades old at least, right?
So for me that implies, like, maybe some sort of time-manipulation shenanigans, or something else that allows the forest to grow freakishly fast in just a few years? Or that the āpoor childrenā are not actually any of the kids we know, and this is actually about something that happened to one of the previous generations of Hometown, much farther in the past? Something that inspired the creation of the Shelter in the first place?
Orā¦ maybe we are talking about an entirely different Forest? One that we do know appeared fairly recently in the blink of an eye?
While weāve had all kinds of fields and castles and basements in the various Dark Worlds, this is the only āForestā weāve gotten so far. That would give us an actual place that fits the description of āwhere the Forest would growā.
And while it doesnāt really make much sense to imagine kids getting lost inside a single classroomā¦. Well, what about an earlier Dark World opened in that same location? Since every Dark Fountain makes a different Dark World, even in the same placeā¦ and this is often perceived by the Darkners of those Dark Worlds as the passing of eons.
So an earlier version of the Card Kingdom (opened up by Baby Kris and/or Tiny Dess, for example) couldāve lacked the Forest location of the Card Kingdom we know and thus be the place āwhere the Forest would growāā¦.
And, like, while I understand the logic behind people associating that line with FRIENDā¦ it is important to remember that the one explicit connection the game has made so far for this Phrase is with the Forgotten Man.
Who has been consistently depicted standing behind a Card Castle Forest Tree, long after that Dark World has passed.
Iām not dismissing the common Shelter-and-FRIEND interpretation of that line, far from it. I just think itās important to consider alternative explanations, or at least that these two ideas could be combined somehowā¦
