I need someone to save me from things that happened years ago
This has definitely been said before I feel it in my left kidney but
The reason we can't distinct what's symptoms of autism/or quite frankly any neurodiversity and what's effects of trauma is because society has not produced a single not-traumatized neurodivergent person.

It’s weird to miss who you were before the trauma when there was no you before the trauma.
Many survivors say, “I don’t remember anything,” without realizing that they are remembering when they suddenly startle, feel afraid, tighten up, pull back, feel shame or self-hatred, or start to tremble.

Re: Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and all other “Founding Fathers” and historical figures who owned slaves
Fuck ‘Em
Listen to me, Tumblr, because apparently somewhere along the line a whole bunch of yall decided that we should just accept that whatever rich white people do as morally excusable if it happened a long enough time ago: owning slaves was evil.
Slavery was evil. Slave owners were evil. Even if it was legal, even if they inherited their slaves, even if they weren’t as physically abusive as they could have been- all slave owners were evil.
Abolitionists existed in America before, during, and after the American Revolution. Folks KNEW. Folks knew that owning other human beings was evil. It wasn’t fucking an unheard of idea that you shouldn’t OWN PEOPLE.
Thomas Jefferson spent years raping a slave girl and then kept the resulting children as slaves. George Washington used the teeth of slaves to make his own dentures. This is not “product of their time” wishy washy nonsense. This is not “Well, EVERYONE was doing it” like drinking their cocaine and canning their food with lead.
So yes, when you see someone pulling down a statue of Robert E Lee, or that sucking slave trader in Bristol, or Columbus, or Thomas Jefferson, and when you ask “who’s next? GEORGE WASHINGTON?” The answer should be - YES, FUCK EM.
Slavery, especially Atlantic chattel slavery as we saw it here in the Americas, was morally repugnant, start to finish, and without question an institution of untold horror and human suffering, and ANY ONE who directly and knowingly benefited from it was a bad person. We don’t need fucking STATUES of them because they can not and should not represent the values we wish to celebrate.
There were no good slave owners.
Cold remedies and tips
I am currently sick af and thought I’d use this time to give some great remedies for colds.
Aromatherapy: I actually got an aromatherapy diffuser for Christmas, and I have been using peppermint oil to help clear my sinuses. There are all sorts of oils that you can use that help when your sick, just look on Pinterest!
Use shower melts too, you can pick up a shower vapor tablet at CVS and take a warm shower to open up your sinuses. Plus, you always feel better when you’re clean and fresh, especially after laying in bed all day.
I like using my mint face scrub, which does the same thing as the peppermint oil in my diffuser. It makes me feel like I can breathe better.
Take Emergen-C if you think you’re likely to get sick. Tho these are for more preventative measures, it has something crazy like over 1000% of your daily vitamin C, and other vitamins to help prevent a cold.
DRINK WATER. DRINK WATER. DRINK WATER. And drink orange juice!
Try to stay away from dairy if your throat is sore. I like to eat a lot of soup, fruit, and rice when I’m sick.
Sleep!!! I know you want to go out, or have to go to work, but call out and get your rest, because your body needs it. Lay in bed and watch tv or read and sleeeeep all day. And if someone covers your shift, don’t be stingy and cover theirs in the future. Help each other out.
Keep lights dim to avoid headaches and migraines
Tan alka-seltzer plus cold formula!!! I know it tastes like shit, but it helps with symptoms. Zicam also helps with cold symptoms and doesn’t taste as bad.
Another thing, DON’T PANIC about stuff you need to get done or should be doing. You need to REST. I was so busy during Christmas, but as soon as the day after Christmas hit I woke up sick, and had no energy to do anything on my massive to do list. I got a little anxious about it, but I realized I needed to let my body rest!

Also, drinking a light soda (Sprite, 7Up, or gingerale is ya want) mixed with orange juice will make you burp so that the orange juice doesn’t give you a tummy ache.

A comic about the spectrum of responses to stress - we talk alot about the more extreme ends of this and trauma, but the more subtle and every day responses can be harder to spot. if we can understand our own and other’s responses better, problems Are easier to confront and blaming is less likely to happen :) hope it’s helpful!!
