I seriously know so little about Shatterstar outside of the X-Factor run that it's sad. D:
As good as the X-Force stuff is, I don't think it's entirely necessary to have read it in order to like Shatterstar as a character. Â It's nice to see how much he's changed over the years, and him and Ric do have some honestly pricless moments, but I really don't think there's anything wrong with having not read any of the stuff that came before.
 That said, Shatterstar's character is kind of like a bunch of adorable, mysterious, half-written sentences.  So just keep that in mind if you decide to read more stuff with him in it, and you'll do great.

See, that's what I was seeming to recall, but I honestly wouldn't stake my life on it. Â I've always connected the two because it's what makes the most sense to me.
