Happy Simblreen!

This is my favorite time in the Sims community and so I want to give you all something special for being so patient with me!

I wake up to a sharp pain in my neck. A woozy, tingling sensation overtakes me, disseminating through my bloodstream. I think nothing of it until I go to touch my neck to investigate the stinging, discovering that there is a person sucking my blood. The room is too dark to see who or what it is; I only see a dark figure disappearing into the shadowed cloak of night. I try to wake my wife up, but she continues to snore heavily.

This next day is a strange one. There is nothing unusual about its happenings— same wife, same breakfast— two scrambled eggs and toast— same job. The only difference is the feeling in my body, almost an aching, like my bones and muscles themselves are crying out to me. This weariness is unbreakable all the way back home after a long day of work.

I walk into our living room, my wife looking up something on her phone as she leans on the kitchen counter. She looks up to ask me how my day was, and I gripe to her about my pain ever since last night. She looks stunned when I explain what I thought was a dream last night.

"And I was asleep throughout all of this?" she starts to pace.

"Well, you've always been a heavy sleeper," I try to chuckle lightheartedly with her, but her grimace remains.

She mutters, "I thought we moved far enough away."

"You're scaring me," I swallow hard before placing my steady hands on her delicate, trembling shoulders. "Can you please tell me what's going on?"

She looks to me, her darkened eyes sending shock waves down my spine.

"My brother— the one I told you was delusional and dangerous— he's found us." Her words are fast, but her voice still wavers. "We need to go— tonight."

Eliza looks at Joselyn with the same apathetic look she’s had, even though her eyes are screaming for help. I wish I could just help, even just make her laugh, but I can tell she doesn’t even want to hear my voice.

“I’ll see you at the house, Bob,” she says to me. Eliza looks at me and for a moment, just a moment, a glimmer of hope appears. But before I can put a pin on what the hope is, it goes away as fast as it came. 

Eliza looks towards Joselyn, fiddling with her keys in her hand. “Let’s get my stuff moved.” Joselyn nods and places a hand on my shoulder to give some reassurance before she leaves after Eliza.

“The French toast offer still stands,” Catalina says.

A pan clattering breaks the silence and a fruity aroma fills the air.

“I made French toast,” Catalina offers. It feels bad to say this, but I completely forgot she was still staying here.

“I-I can find another place to stay,” Catalina continues. “There’s a lot going on with you all; you shouldn’t have the burden of me staying here, too--”

“No,” Eliza interrupts her. “Something good should come out of this. You stay here as long as you need. Right, Joselyn? This is going to be your place now.”

“Right,” Joselyn says, nodding with a nervous smile. “For real, Catalina, it’s no problem. It’ll be nice to have a roommate, anyways, once this one is gone.”

“Thank you,” Catalina says in the deafening silence.

Joselyn puts her head on my shoulder again. I hear cautious footsteps, Eliza coming out of the bedroom with her face strained into a frown. A shot of cold punches my gut as I look at her face, which has an expression that for the first time, I can’t interpret. 

“We start packing today,” Eliza croaks, and Joselyn lifts her head up.

Joselyn gives a sympathetic thin-lipped smile, “Hey, you’re awake. I half expected you to sleep in,” she tries to give a dry chuckle, but silence looms.

“I know what you two were talking about,” Eliza continues, her gaze fixed away from us and her throat tight. “But I just need my best friend today, Bob, is that okay?” She looks at me without turning her head, her eye bags framing her bloodshot green eyes.

“Y-yeah, yeah, of course, hon,” I fumble over my words as I shakily sit away from Joselyn.

Bob’s perspective

“Hey, it’s gonna be okay,” Joselyn says. She reassuringly rubs my back to comfort me, but all I can do is just sigh.

“I just can’t help but feel that it’s over--how can she ever trust me again? Even if she starts trusting me again, it’ll never be the same.” Joselyn lays her head down on my shoulder, staying silent. 

I stammer before I start speaking again, “I-I mean, I want to have kids with her so so badly. How is that going to work if every time she looks at our kids she thinks of the one I hid from her?”

“Hey,” she looks at me with a caring sternness. “It’s you and Eliza; you’ll get through this, you got that?” I nod.

it feels so weird to be back

I’ve been out of the game for a while bc I honestly didn’t feel like playing the Sims or anything since I was so busy with work and school, but I’ve recently just started playing again and I remember why I love it! I know I say this a lot but I really think I’m back this time :’)
