Something I’ve always thought a lot about is the Blue Shells from Mario kart and the Koopas that might’ve inhabited them.

Like, I know that they’re just power ups exclusive to the non-cannon Mario kart games.. but what if they weren’t? What if the blue shell power ups were actually all that remained of an elite type of Koopa Troopa that went extinct? What if the destructive blue shell power up was actually the result of a botched attempt by Kamek to resurrect the species?

I have like.. 3 different ideas on the “Blue shelled koopa” and what happened to them. Some are more gruesome than others.. But in these particular drawings? I have a much more tame idea in mind.

My idea here is that Parakoopas are indeed alive and are an elite species of Koopa Troopa that are tough as nails and extremely loyal to the Koopa king family. But the reason why no one ever sees them is because instead of these Koopa juggernauts being sent out to fight Mario.. their relatively small population is stationed at Bowsers personal castle as royal guardsmen.. Well, its more a Palace actually.. Anyway these troops are stationed there because its where Bowser, the Koopalings, Kamek (and now Kammy) all live.

YOSHI POWER-UPS!

I originally meant to make this piece for before the direct but I didn’t calculate how long this would take :/

Either way, this is my take on the Yoshi power-up system for him. I’m also planing to do the other power-ups but this took me a week so expect it like late September or something… no promises.

Ah yes, the old King Kong himself! I didn’t actually think I was going to add him and Diddy to my AU because I wasn’t sure how they’d fit.. But after brainstorming with a friend, we found a way! XD

I tried to put a lot of thought into DK and Diddy’s designs. Everything was intentional. Diddy and DK’s ENORMOUS size, DKs long fur, the red and blue tones in their fur, DK having long claws while Diddy does not, Diddy’s clothing choice, EVERYTHING! I tried my best to think it all through.
