this might be a controversial opinion (and before you pull out your pitchforks and torches, x files fans - please sit down and take a breather, okay? thank you). but i think msr being canon (or whatever the hell it is) low key ruined scullyâs character.
itâs not even the shipâs fault, necessarily, itâs the writers who were in charge of writing the script who fucked up, but it just angers me how scully was once this strong, powerful woman and then changed into this fearful woman who is reduced to nothing more than being a mother and a lonesome lover who became a shell of who she once was.
it just makes me mad that you have this female character who has this long, interesting history and lore, and all sheâs made to be in the later seasons of the show (and revival) is her male counterpartâs wife who is obsessed with being a mother.
and this isnât me saying that scully (and other strong female characters) canât fall in love and have families, because thatâs not true - they totally SHOULD, and itâs fine if they do! good on them!
it just irritates me that the x files writers (and the fandom, low key) only make scully out to be mulderâs wife and baby mama.
