“yes, they can-”

a moment passed as hux’s eyes turned distant, obviously lost in thought. and then he comes to again, masking his emotions once more.

“Did you find that out on your own or did somebody eventually have to tip you off?” Ren hissed, glaring at the general. “I don’t think you’ll make it to Grand Marshall too soon if you simply keep stating the obvious.”

“trust me, i’ve had more than enough experience to know you how monstrous you can be.”

hux snorted.

“should i be grovelling to get a promotion? shall i kiss your boots? if you’re interested in knowing my aspirations, i have better plans than being grand marshal now. that time has passed.”

    “I suppose no one can TRULY say. But we CAN work to shape it”

“i’ve never been one to believe in fate. but our future’s are not always ours to shape. sometimes fate doesn’t need to step in, others will gladly do the work for it.”

It’s half her fault, Maree is looking out a window at the vast expanse of space when he nearly bowls her over. She steadies herself against a wall with one hand, protecting her stomach with the other. It’s a reflex, especially in the presence of someone such as him. Maree recognizes him, using every ounce of self control she has not to fix him with a glare. 

“My apologies,” she replies, though strained with the attempt to sound respectful. 

It’s still just as painful to act decent towards him, seeing what he stands for. 

“As it turns out, I’ve been waiting for ages and well… it gets rather boring.”

his eyes flick to the movement of her hand resting on his stomach, and a new wave of resentment flows through him. he says nothing, though. 

“all is forgiven, your highness.” 

his tone is still strained, but his lip quirks up in a derisive smirk.

“waiting? i’ve never been a patient man myself. i suppose i sympathize.” 

for a moment he glances around, as if looking for something to amuse her, but he comes up short. with a soft sigh, he checks the time before looking to her again.

“it’s...close to dinner. i haven’t eaten all day, so if you would care to accompany me, i’m sure you’re in need of food to. i’m not sure if you’ve eaten in the senior officers lounge, but it should be to your majesty’s liking. or we could eat in my office, if you would like something more private.”
