More chaotic than chaos

"the Hadestown proshot exceeds box office expectations" truly, who could have predicted fans going repeated times, to see the musical whose entire concept is about the musical repeating

In a local production of hadestown that i saw, when it came time for orpheus to sing epic III, the fates didnt give him his guitar back. You see, up on the platform by hades' office door, a shiny black guitar has been mounted on the wall throughout the whole play. It is this guitar that orpheus is given to play epic III on: hades' guitar. He once sang a song of love like orpheus, you know.

You gotta be really publicly passionate about things if you want your friends to text you. Bc people will forget to text you because they’re human. But if you’re really openly the friend who loves identifying ants your friends will think of you when they see ants. And they’ll text you “what ant is this [blurry photo]”. And then they’ll ask you how you’ve been and we should get coffee sometime. But if they don’t know what you love they’ll never know what you like

And then when the ant convention is in town they’ll be like dude… we should go to the ant convention. But they would never think to go if they didn’t know u loved ants

And sometimes you need to ask them to go to the ant convention. But you Will not get anywhere hiding your passions

blank slate protagonists are such an interesting concept to me because its nearly impossible to really create a blank slate. you have to go so far out of your way to create a character whos entirely nothing. any tiny detail about them that isnt dictated by the player betrays some interiority. and i really think the only way to get around this is a game with 0 story or dialogue, or like, a game where you entirely customize your character. but even then, surely they have some dialogue? theres no way to allow the player to entirely dictate everything about the character. no matter what you do, if you have a story that your protagonist participates in, i dont think its possible for them to be a complete blank slate.

while im on the topic of blank slate protagonists, i think kris from deltarune really doesnt get enough credit for being a good deconstruction of the trope. because deltarune, like undertale before it, is a deconstruction of and commentary on rpg tropes. and kris is your silent, blank slate protagonist. except they fundamentally arent one. they exist in the world before you enter it. they have a family. they have a personality. they have a will and an identity outside of you. they are a person, and an entity entirely separate from the player, because kris is a blank slate protagonist who isnt a blank slate.
