Mario Homestuck au - Sprites and Classpect reasoning
Classpecting is very tricky to figure out since a lot of it is speculation and subjective, so I end up looking at a bunch of guides people have made. For this discussion Iām using the class descriptions from this guide because it makes sense to me, idk if itās outdated or incorrect but Iāve already drawn all this shit so Iām not gonna be changing their classpects.
Mage: Understands (with/through) [aspect] through experience and action
Time: Timing, endings, death, meta
I actually got the idea for this from a comment on an old Reddit post about classpecting Mario characters, and I just loved how they had Mario as a Mage of Time to represent the whole extra lives in video games. He learns from his mistakes, and does better next time.
Maid: Heals, creates, and regenerates (with/through) [aspect]
Doom: sacrifices, decay, futility, rules, restrictions
Luigi just seemed like a Doom player, especially with how heās depicted in the Paper Mario games. Him being the ideal host for the Chaos Heart, feeling like heās living in his brotherās shadow, his connection to ghosts and supernatural with Luigiās Mansion, and even his weird Final Smash from Brawl where he weaponizes his fears and insecurities. I decided to go for the Maid class because despite all this, he still chooses to be kind and helpful. I imagine heād use his bad luck to his advantage.
Sylph: Invites healing, creation, and regeneration of/with/through [aspect]
Heart: soul, emotion, passion, will, intuition
Peach was pretty easy, sheās a healer, sheās passionate, kind, and strong-willed. I went with Sylph of Heart kind of with the idea of her being able to heal/help others through each otherās emotions. I mean, In SMRPG she literally has a move called ātherapyā and āgroup hugā that heals the party. Plus in Super Princess Peach the whole gimmick of the game is using her strong emotions.
Maid: Heals, creates, and regenerates (with/through) [aspect]
Hope: belief, possibility, imagination
I feel like Timpani is a good representation of hope. In the game she starts off withdrawn, but over time grows closer to everyone and remembering her past, making her determined to stop Bleck and hold onto the hope that the man she once knew is still in there. Hope in Homestuck, to my understanding, are just able to make things happen if they believe in it. I figured Tippi refueling the Pure Hearts and healing the team was fitting for a Maid of Hope. I also think her teleportation powers also fit this narrative, since we donāt see her use it much and they never explain how sheās able to do it. I mainly think of her teleporting the team out of space when they realize theyāre unable to breathe. Does this make sense? I hope it does (hehe hope)
OāChunks - Page of Blood
Page: Invites application, exploitation, and use of/with/through [aspect] as a weapon, tapping into its potential
Blood: bonds, relationships, unity, loyalty, obligation
OāChunks is loyal through and through, he cares deeply about the team, and even goes as far as almost taking his life for failing the team. OāChunks backstory was a big inspiration for this decision, since he was betrayed by his own men, I figure itād take a while for him to trust people again. The Page class represents this process, and how once he grows attached to the team he becomes fueled by that bond.
Bowser - Knight of Breath
Knight: Applies, uses, and exploits (with/through) [aspect] as a weapon, maximizing its capability
Breath: freedom, direction, confidence
When trying to think of characteristics of Bowser, I thought about his independence and leadership in the rpg games. Partially due to his powerful nature and royal status, Bowser goes wherever he wants and does what he wants. Heās ready to charge forward and follow his own plans. He uses this confidence to lead his army towards his goals.
Thief: Redistributes (with/through) [aspect] for own benefit
Life: life force, energy, growth
For Thief of Life, I was mainly thinking about how she is essentially taking peopleās energy for her own gain in the mansion by forcing them to work for her. Life players can have the ability to heal and self revive, which felt fitting for Mimi who literally explodes in front of you and is then fine the next chapter
Witch: Controls, manipulates, and changes (with/through) [aspect]
Mind: thought, logic, decision, strategy
This felt obvious due to her mind control powers, thereās not much to explain.
Knight: Applies, uses, and exploits (with/through) [aspect] as a weapon, maximizing its capability
Void: nothingness, misfortune, unknown, obfuscation of knowledge
Count Bleck is the one who brings the void into existence, and is heavily tied to it, even creating mini voids during his fight. Nothingness and misfortune is pretty fitting for him. He uses an ancient and forgotten magic to create the void that will bring the world to nothingness.
Dimentio - Prince of Space
Prince: Destroys (with/through) [aspect]
Space: creation, transformation, beginnings
Dimentioās main goal is to destroy the world and create a new one, so it makes sense heād be someone who destroys through creation.
