I've been resource gathering for YEARS so now I am going to share my dragons hoard
Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.
Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.
Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.
Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.
SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.
SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.
Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.
Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.
Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.
Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.
Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.
and with many story beats mapped out and my art having improved to a level i'd like to implement into my vn, here's my first draft at a sprite for Lucien, one of our main love interests! Now I need to make ones for Naya, Lyra, Hikari, Yuxuan and Caspian :)
Once that's done, I plan to make some backgrounds, find some sounds and get composing for the music before I start actually coding the game.

I couldn't decide on one outfit for Lyra so I've made a plain base so I can just dress her up in different fits and see what's best lol - hence why her waist looks so small bc corsets are a must in Lyra's wardrobe
also I've done 2/3 of her tattoos (third one's on the back of her neck so can't be seen in this pov) but I feel like she'd be the type to have some sort of body piercing too?? Naya has a belly piercing, Hikari has a septum and vertical labret, Lucien has a bridge and snake bites...

Hi! I don't know if you will see this but, do you have any advice for someone just getting in drawing ocs? I was also wondering what do you use to draw on?

Hi, ๐!! Iโm fairly new to drawing my OCs too. I used to draw traditionally a lot in school as a teen so that kinda gave me a foundation to work with. Tutorials and speed paints are great for learning via observation but trial and error is important too! When a drawing didnโt turn out how Iโd want, Iโd usually annotate what could be improved and give it another go after having a break.
Transitioning from traditional to digital has been a big leap and, in a lot of ways, itโs like learning to draw all over again. I have a Pinterest board where I keep pose references, brush qr codes, art tips, tutorials and lots of art where I want to take inspiration from the styles and techniques theyโve used. Iโve also got a saves folder on tiktok of art tutorials.
I use ibisPaint x on a Lenovo idea pad with a stylus :)
Iโm the sort of person who works in bursts of inspiration so I try to get as much work as I can get done when inspiration hits - but consistency is important too!! Donโt necessarily force yourself to draw but donโt let yourself go too long without doing it either. Happy drawing, bunny!!
