my main problem with gracie is that i feel like she has so much potential but she wastes most of it on pretty bland music (at least since secret of us, i thought good riddance was good and havent listened to her earlier stuff), and i felt the same abt this album - only a couple songs really grabbed me and i thought a lot of it could've been cut

my main problem with the album though, is that virtually none of it fits the title daughter from hell, which just frustrates me massively . its such an evocative title with infinite potential and so many ideas that could be explored lyrically and it does literally none of that . the title track tries and i really like its sentiment but even that felt like it was missing an emotional punch

most of the songs are still about relationships . i think the other big issue is just the mismatch between concept and execution . i like humming and i really like the concept but the execution feels much more like a song abt growing up than a song abt addressing the state of the world, if the most biting you wanna get is 'our sinking ship' and 'blood on our hands' it's a pretty shallow effort imo

i don't like being this negative but i say this with hope that one day she'll put out music i really love, because i do really believe she has so much potential . and it'll probably grow on me over time, because the same thing happened with secret of us and the singles from this album (even if i still stand by my criticisms)
