So dashing, so gorgeous, so dark and mysterious. The eighth doctor, although only seen in the movie certainly has two gorgeous costumes!
Shirt: Victorian wingtip shirt. But any should do with the collar turned up. There used to be a store that sold them cheaply but it seems to no longer exist. Nevertheless, try ebay for cheap formal wear or your local charity store.
Pants: Victorian, high cut pants. No buttons, made for suspenders. But any grey/beige sort of pans should do. No creases or anything though. One site recommends pants from Old Navy or Target. But most charity stores should have something similar.
Waistcoat: Ten button, double breasted, shawl collar in greyish taupe. Difficult to pin an exact colour but has silk edges. Pattern wise, perhaps a brocade or jacquard. Maybe even a paisley. You will probably have to make this, but you might be able to commission someone to make it for you. Again, try the site Clothears. But they will probably be expensive.
You should be able to find a pattern for it though.
Shoes: Modern black dress shoes. Possibly loafers. Any should be fine. I say modern…1996 XD.
Cravat: Taupe, satin cravat. Should match your vest. It’s tied around the collar, so the collar is popped up. He wears a gold/bronze tie pin. Silver around the edges. Any pin should be fine or just glue something similar on.
Coat: Yet another Frock Coat. There’s been debate over the collar but it’s definitely green velvet. 1800’s mid length style Victorian Frock Coat. Peak lapels in silk, fiddleback style seams, rear vents in back. 6 spiral weave buttons in the front. Sort of gold buttons around the cuffs. Two buttons at the back of the coat.
This might be hard to find. Bridal stores may have something similar for grooms, or ebay. Theres a few places you can buy them but they aren’t cheap. I’ll link at the end.
If you are up to it, you should be able to get a pattern for such a coat. I wish you luck.
Wig: Brown, curly. Almost shoulder length, curly fringe.
Props: Pocket watch with chain.
Modern Outfit: Love, love this one! He wears a similiar coat to Nine. But it’s blue leather with bronze/gold buttons. He weans blue jeans with this and brown shoes. He’s cut his hair quite short and theres a hint of stubble. Top this off with a brown satchel and if you are up to making it, his steampunk sonic.
This isn’t sold, Weta made it for him. It’s really gorgeous though.
After all the refs are done, I’ll make a post with links to victorian frock coat patterns if I can, because many are based on such coats. As well as other doctor who helpful sites.
