Pic 1: Die Wacht am Rhein (song used heavily during the Francho-Prussian war and ww1, the song’s roots lied within the never ending rivalry and hatred between the Germans and the French over the conflict for west of the Rheine river area, the French’s scorched earth policy affected large amounts of land and people. Its supposed to be a patriotic song since the unification of germany in 1870)
Pic 2: The infamous Christmas truce that took place during 1914 on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. It was practically an unofficial truce between many german, french, and british forces in which they came to one another’s trenches and exchanged gifts and talks. Also during this truce the infamous soccer games took place in the no man’s land in between the lines.
