A mentor at the startup accelerator Tech Wildcatters, entrepreneur Stacy Stine Cary also founded the natural product distributor GeOasis. A patron of multiple charitable causes, Stacy Stine Cary is a supporter of Social Venture Partners (SVP). A Dallas, Texas-based philanthropic and social change organization, SVP consists of 3,500 members, a number that makes it the largest group of active donors worldwide. SVP has 39 local chapters around the world in addition to a network of community partners including Verizon and Texas Instruments. The organization not only gives charitably but also connects individuals with one another to advance social innovation, fund nonprofits, and maximize philanthropic efforts. SVP also offers nonprofits various organizational tools, including board governance, communications, financial management, and human resources. In the 20 years preceding the ban, American families adopted more than 60,000 children from Russia. America has historically given homes to more Russian children than any other nation. Adoption advocates are especially concerned about orphaned children with disabilities. Roughly 2,500 Russian children are born with Down syndrome every year, and as many as 85 percent of them end up in an orphanage. The United States is the world leader in adopting children with special needs. Adoption and human rights advocates worldwide are hopeful that the ban will be overturned soon in order to save as many children as possible from being institutionalized. Russia currently houses more than 600,000 children in its orphanages.

An experienced business leader in several fields, Stacy Cary serves as an investor in Tech Wildcatters, a company that accelerates the development of new companies. Stacy Stine Cary has mentored several recent Texas startups through her association with the company. Among Tech Wildcatter's clients is DineMob, makers of an app designed to draw customers to quality restaurants during non-rush hours. The app alerts diners to special off-peak promotions. The system rewards users not only with deals but provides credits for future visits. Users can also arrange rides through a link to Uber. Another app, GameTime Giving, offers a new venue for charitable contributions. Aimed at millennials, the application accesses virtual games to play while potential donors are at sporting events. When the app's game finishes, it gives users a chance to donate. GameTime Giving has already signed partnership deals with the Dallas Stars, with other potential partners including the Frisco RoughRiders and FC Dallas. A third startup is the team behind Capparsa, productivity technology currently being marketed in the business-to-business environment. It helps users increase efficiency by directing teams and handling tasks. Capparsa's founders foresee some 54 million freelancers using its software.                            

With a background in real estate, oil and gas exploration and extraction, and importing and exporting, Texan Stacy Stine Cary is well acquainted with business and entrepreneurism. In addition, Stacy Cary is a tireless volunteer who supports several cause-oriented organizations, including the Boy Scouts. When the Scouting movement began in the early 20th century, its emphasis was on outdoor skills, such as camping, hiking, swimming, and rowing and canoeing. Modern Scouting continues to emphasize those skills, but with a distinctly 21st-century flavor. One indication of how Scouting has worked to stay abreast of a changing world is the merit badges Scouts earn to demonstrate their proficiency in various skills, as well as to advance in rank to the coveted Eagle badge. In 1910, only 13 badges of merit were offered, including Ambulance, Fireman, Electrician, and Stalkers. The list gradually grew and some of the badges were renamed; for instance, the Ambulance badge became the First Aid badge in 1911, and it has remained the most popular merit badge today. The Fireman badge became the Firemanship badge. The Stalkers badge was renamed Stalking and in 2010 was again renamed Tracking. Throughout the years, the Scouts have been offered a total 261 merit badges, of which 134 are still available. Modern merit badges that reflect the Scouts’ efforts to offer American youth meaningful skills and interests in an evolving world include Sustainability, Programming, Moviemaking, Orienteering, and Snow Sports. Boy Scouts in the Dallas, Texas, area belong to the Circle Ten Council, which comprises Dallas, 10 neighboring counties in Texas, and Bryan County in Oklahoma. The council was chartered in 1913, although troops of Scouts formed in the area as early as 1910, the year Scouting came to the United States. The Council serves more than 55,000 Scouts.
