I devoured this book in three days.It was so beautifully written ( I never use that phrase but it is the one stuck in my mind) and haunting.I am surprised and a bit sad that I have not seen this book pop up more on “bookstagram.” More people need to be reading this! I don’t usually read novellas but in the past year or so I have purchased a few just because the covers really intrigued me! This was one of those! The cover is perfect for the book.....although ......what you find lurking beneath that cover might knock you for a loop(in the best possible way).I thought I knew where the story was going and boy was I wrong! I read it in one sitting because I was so anxious to find out what happened to the characters.The whole book just flowed along perfectly and I found the end to be very satisfying and yes even a bit romantic.Nothing like a little romance to take the edge off of the horror you are feeling from what you have just read.So don’t pass this one by because of it’s length.You’ll miss out on a great story! #weekendgetawatomdeady#read#books#bookstagram#horror#stayoutofthewoods#trustnobody

I just finished Unbury Carol by and have come to the conclusion that the guy can’t write a bad book! The four I’ve read have all been really good.(A House at the Bottom of a Lake completely creeped me out and I still have not gotten it out of my head.If you’ve ever floated on a lake or pond on one of those pool floats with a see through window (do they even make those anymore?) then you’ll REALLY appreciate that one). OK! So anyway on to Unbury Carol.I loved the character Smoke! Probably not the most popular choice amongst readers but man what a clever way to kill! I was horrified and thrilled both at the same time! I’m like,” How the heck does someone come up with the idea to..........” (“Idea to what?”You say. You’ll have to read the book). I don’t want to give too much away but I just want to mention something I thought was really cool.For me the title plates (no idea what the correct term is ) at the beginning of each chapter totally lent to the “atmosphere” of the book and was reinforced every time I started a new chapter.I can’t say that I have ever experienced that before and I have read many books in my lifetime.
