well generally, i want to write for all my threads and all my au’s but amy strives to make things as interesting as possible, and she’s pitched out multiple ideas i’ve never had the ability to do before without her creativity (i mean one of her opens was eren climbing a mountain for fuck’s sake like who thought of that before because i wouldn’t know) -- but anyway I JUST REALLY LIKE THIS AU

you have eren and he’s only 14 years old, literally just made it into high school. he’s so far from having his life figured out yet and everything and he literally just started one of the final chapters towards the rest of his life, he’s a pubescent piece of poo that’s had things handed to him and he’s lived his life in ignorance. ignorance is bliss, after all. then there’s levi -- 17 years old, been alone for most of his young life. an emancipated minor with ambitions to get into college to study biomechanics while serving in the army. he and eren have been really close for a long time, childhood friends (and their relationship grew when levi was initially hired to be his babysitter c:), but levi’s at a more mature level than eren is and he processes things that occur very differently.

when the unknown disease spreads and causes the number of contaminants to multiply, they (at that point in time) were separated from one another. over time levi was able to adapt fairly quickly, partly in fear of not wanting to die. eren was forced to do the same, however living a life of ignorance cost him capability at the developing stages of the breach. eren was separated from his friends and family and was forced to live on the run to preserve his welfare, as was levi -- but levi didn’t necessarily grieve. he moved on, he convinced himself that he had to.

when they both decide to break into the same house to find supplies, their reunion starts with a punch to the face and a bloody nose to follow suit. a surge of emotions can be responsible, and eren didn’t necessarily see the punch coming in the first place. levi wasn’t even expecting to see eren again. they both stick together because they find familiarity and peace in one another, in a world where all of that has otherwise been destroyed until they can find a cure. the cdc has been abandoned and other disease research centers may also be inoperable. the aces are keeping tabs on these two because of anonymous tips claiming that one of them (or both) may potentially hold the cure for the disease, and the organization is also under the impression that one of them may be a carrier. things start to slowly escalate and levi finds himself under a lot more strain than he would like. ultimately, he is forced to save eren’s life by (in his eyes) taking someone else’s, and he doesn’t fully return from this. i wouldn’t say that he becomes a void of ceaseless emotion necessarily, but he is definitely more cut-off until there are moments where he reaches a breaking point. eren’s the only one there in those instances, and vice versa. there will come times where eren may or may not have to trade someone’s life for his own or for levi’s, and neither of them find it easier the more often it occurs.

Own knuckles currently covered in the dried liquid form, he smells only old copper as he wipes continuously at tender flesh, if only in attempt to ignore the flow that seeps from only one nostril.

      if striking argent knows COMPASSION like his heart, the glint in his eyes can be constructed with guilt, or perhaps, concern. he lifts his arm to wipe eren’s face with his sleeve, for other things take much more precedence than the inevitable stain.

     POWER is given to those who don’t lament the passage of artificial halcyon, for those who can thrive under relentless circumstance. paralyzed features caked in hushed venom, a pointed glance he offers but he’s inclined otherwise.

     perpetual inclinations are placed and he doesn’t mourn; if DEATH’S ceaseless reign continues to ravage, why should he be bothered to grieve ? acknowledging the presence of its blade, a heart worn from duty, he’s betrothed to hollowness. ah, but compassion compensates. he crosses his arms, engaged.

     all inconsistencies aside and all attempts of disruption kept at bay, there’s one matter that must be dealt with before he can continue; ah, if only it were relevant.

alright, so i made a post about this in december that was more or less a joke but the actual things i brought up in said post were true. so, this is the serious version of that post and it’s more or less me saying ‘if you’re fanon-based, i will not interact with you’. sorry for the harshness, but fanon really grinds my gears and i’m an advocate for individual comfort; just like you’re not obligated to follow me and like my interpretation of levi, i’m not obligated to cater to you.

these are the main points for me:

his name is not rivaille and he is not a lance corporal. both of those misconceptions come from translation errors and i literally will drop everything if i see either of those in a thread. his name is levi and he is referred to as ‘captain’ by his subordinates. as a second half of this, he’s not french and he doesn’t know how to speak french.

as far as i’m concerned, in his canon he’s only said the word ‘brat’ once, and he was specifically referring to eren, mikasa, and armin when he said it. this isn’t a term he just throws out to everyone every 5 seconds.

levi isn't a walking curse machine. he knows how to construct sentences without cuss words in them; *gasp* shocking, right?

for the love of all that is good and holy in this world, levi will never be abusive especially to someone he supposedly loves. i cannot tell you how many levi's i've seen write him this way to his significant other, and it makes me want to burn everything.

as of right now, i’m under the impression that levi and mikasa are not related by blood; after all, it was explicitly stated that she was the only asian alive, no? so logically if that’s the case, they can’t be related because levi’s not asian. if they are related through familial bonds of some sort, the most logical thing would have been that someone was married into the family, going off the assumption that surnames work the same way in snk as they do in real life so lmao no. levi is not her uncle or whatever unless isayama says so.

levi is naturally abrasive; things he says are really blunt and acerbic. it’s not intentional. he doesn’t do it to purposely anger people or to come off as condescending; he’s socially inept and doesn’t really know how to have normal conversations with people, so you have to be patient with a character like him.

levi doesn’t go around beating the shit out of people without reason. we know, through one of the more recent chapters, that he has a history of violence growing up. however, just like real people, characters can develop too. levi doesn’t do things without a valid reason; think about it. when you see him as an adult, and he lashes out, did something provoke him first? is something, i dunno, threatening his livelihood?

people wildly misinterpret the courtroom scene towards the beginning of his character introduction, and it pisses me off. people seem to forget that 1) if levi hadn’t done it, eren would be dead, 2) levi didn’t actually want to do it and he definitely didn’t like it, and 3) erwin told him to. ties into the above, he doesn’t beat on people for no reason, and he doesn’t get off on it.

now, tying this into the last point as well, levi doesn’t follow erwin ignorantly. erwin knows what he wants and how to play his cards, and he has purpose; levi respects purpose. it’s as simple as that. levi is able to interject at any given time if he wanted to.

levi has shown no real interest in being romantically inclined with anyone. now i don’t say this to shit on people’s ships because i have one of my own for him; HOWEVER, in his canon he is unlikely to get into a relationship. there are multiple reasons for this that i can disclose if you’re curious, but the most obvious one is this: he’s constantly trying to survive and literally no one in their little squad has time for flings when there’s always something on their asses.

he lived in filth all throughout his young life from what can be discerned, so what makes you think he’s going to want to continue living in dirt even after he already left that environment. he just wants to keep things clean. it shouldn’t be something that is too blown out of proportion; there may be a deeper meaning behind it, but that is all conjecture until isayama tells us why he compulsively cleans.
