The Monastery Floor

A loud screech awoke you from your nap, frantically looking around to find where the noise was sourced. Realizing where it came from you quickly relax, and rose from the carpeted floor. It wasn’t that comfortable anyway. Ik’s voice crackled through the elevator speakers,

“Opening the do—“

His voice cuts out. Panic settles in your skin as a prickly sensation as you realize that no service can reach here. Nervously fiddling with the brim of your hat, you watch as the elevator doors creak open. Hues of gold and indigo peek through the crack as it illuminated the inside of the elevator.

Floor ####: The Monastery

Stepping forward with a flashlight in your palms, you instinctively examine your surroundings with an unnecessary rigor and caution. Rows of benches are screwed into the floorboards, along with three in poses similar to praying. One looks your way, but seemed to quickly ignore you and revert back to its original position. Somehow that left you more uncomfortable than being attacked directly. You continue forward.

The halls are dark. You’re unsure if they lead anywhere, but you don’t want to find out right now. Looking ahead you find elevated ground; a flight of stairs leading to a podium, and a mannequin preaching to the small crowd. Your gaze turns up to the round lamps hanging from the ceiling, the amber hue casted onto the entire room. Yet the lamps are overpowered by a light from behind the "priest." It’s a window of a hooded figure, eyes glowing white while a painted moon shines onto them like a halo. Crows are swarming this figure. One crow is gingerly perched on their fingers, and upon closer inspection you realize the hand is painted to look like bone.

You’re not quite sure where the light outside is coming from. It was pretty dark the last time you were outside. Actually, maybe it’s better if you don’t question it. Your torch flickered before finally losing power, but luminescence from multiple sources are enough for you to see. You’re unsure what to do now. You could look for a power plug, but you worry that you may have interrupted the session for the guests.

I wonder if Sob actually tried to coax any guests into making him an angel. Murals and literature of him hidden in rooms and sometimes you find glass shards of an unfinished window made just for him
