or B: Have we failed at such a noble objective?

Let us make no mistake about it. The pursuit of science is not relegated to the universities and institutions of higher learning. “Science” by definition is “the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment”. ANYONE can make those observations and experiments. Science is a method of investigation, not a set of beliefs. Science is not monopolized by governmental institutions and by men in white lab coats. Science belongs in the hands of each and every human being on this earth regardless of what anyone says.

The fact is, science and its basic methods are easy to follow and abide by. The pillars of “the scientific method” consist of:

1) Asking questions 2) Doing background research 3) Constructing a hypothesis based on the testing and analyzation of that data 4) Drawing a conclusion report in the results.

Scientific research must be repeatable, verifiable, demonstrable, as well as able to undergo a healthy amount of scrutiny and criticism.

What often gets in the way of the pure persuit of science is the human ego. Cordiality and congeniality are lost when the unadulterated quest for truth gets tainted by all sorts of corrupting forces such as money, power, greed, and pride (all things quite prevalent in the current collective human condition).

We must always keep emblazoned in our minds the understand that ridicule, belittlement, derision, despairing in derogatory remarks, ad hominem attacks, and the like have NO place within scientific inquiry nor in social civility.
