Architecture focus on the designing of spaces, for humans. The human centred world does not allow space for non-humans. That is why there is no architecture designed especially for non-humans. Part of the reason why is as humans we do not know what the non-humans really want. However, if we really wanted to, this can be speculated by observing the lifestyles of the non-humans, this way we can get a vague idea of the non-human’s needs.
Designing for humans is very different with designing for non-humans because our needs and lifestyles are different. For example, how can a space be used for non-human, what kind of experience does it provide? As humans we prefer space which provides us with comfort. However, does non-humans know of the same comfort as us? What is comfort to them? Therefore, an ideal environment for them may not be the ideal environment for us.
Pure modernism, plain and clean facades, the anti-natural style, is it really what the non-humans want? An organic architecture is needed to imitate the natural environment, which makes the non-human feel more at home. Is nature currently balanced? Through architecture we can design spaces which can more closely relate to the idea of utopia, what the perfect nature should look like, not what the nature currently is.
