“You know, nothing can quite beat a hot chocolate after a long day. That and good company, of course. I have one out of the two so I can’t complain.” Narcissa stated to the person sitting next to her before sipping on her drink.  

“Aw, now Ciss I know that I’m awesome company. I don’t think I’ll be able to help with chocolate I’m afraid.”

A smile broke out on Remus’ face as he laughed at his friend. “You’re obviously just jealous Padfoot.” He gave a small shrug, a smirk tugging at his lips. “Why?” He asked curious to know what Sirius knew.

“And what exactly am I jealous of?” He tilted his head in question mockingly, “Because you gave him a stupid name. Socks, really Moony really?”Sirius grinned teasing. 

“And what would that have been so I can remedy it?” She asked. “I can’t remember a time when you were completely innocent.” The witch exaggerated, offering her cousin a playful smile. “But, are you?” 

“Oh it doesn’t matter now. It’s not as fun if I have to tell you.” Another sigh of disappointment left his lips and gave a one shouldered shrug. “I’m hurt, Drom, I really am. I was an angel as a child.” He glanced up at his cousin with a grin, remembering just how much he loved to play up. “I mean on this occasion, I would rather not say.”

Andromeda crossed her arms over her chest with an amused smile on her lips. “Sirius, are you honestly asking that question?” 

“I thought you were going to ask my favourite question then, Drom. That’s just disappointing.” Sirius let out an exaggerated sigh. “But yes, I am actually asking that question. I could be completely innocent for all you know.”

This was absolutely ridiculous.  Remus had only just gotten this cat, and already, he’d lost it.  If Filch found him, then there was no telling what he might do to his new pet, considering it payback for all the time he and the other had hung Mrs. Norris from the chandeliers.  “Socks,” Remus called, nearly running into the person heading the opposite way down the corridor.  “Nope.  You aren’t a cat.”

“Now I see why they all call you the smart one of the group, Moony. I don’t know why I ever doubted it.” Sirius rolled his eyes as he stood with raised brows. “You know why he’s ran off, right?”

“Blast it, you’ve caught me,” Remus replied holding his hands up in defense. “Please do, what is the big secret Pads? Teach me your ways. Make me as great as the one and only Sirius Black” His tone was exaggerated and there was a hint of a smirk playing on his lips. “You flatter me.” 

“Y’know what Moony, I don’t think I like your tone.” Sirius pouted as he pulled away from his friend. “Here I am trying to give my worldly wisdom and then all I get from you is Sass. Don’t know why I even bother. You don’t deserve my knowledge.” The Gryffindor crossed his arms over his chest childishly as if sulking. “I’d never get this kind of behaviour from Prongs.”

“Who are you to tell the giant squid to change his methods?” A look of fake shock found its way to his features. 

“Hey, I’m only trying to help. I’m just saying, if it’s friends he is trying to make then clearly his current method isn’t working.” He gave a shrug of his shoulders as if what he was saying was the most obvious thing ever.

“Perhaps that’s just his way of making friends?” 

“After all these years, I’m going to take a guess and say it’s not working out for him. I think a new method may be called for.”

The Gryffindor gawked at his friend for a few seconds before letting loose a splutter of a laugh. “I’d say I love your confidence but I’m not sure if it is confidence or if it’s just delusional.” Remus teased with a playful look in his eye. He tilted his head before placing a hand over his heart. “How awfully sweet of you Padfoot. I do forget how amazing I am at times — Yes, you’re right. Of course, that’s the reason.” 

“Now, now my dear Moony..” Sirius tutted with a fake frown. “Anyone would think you’re jealous, old chum. It’s okay, I can teach you my ways.” He threw his arm around his friend’s shoulder and brought him closer,as if he were about to reveal some big secret. “Oh yes, simply the best. Marvelous, if I must say so. Absolutely spiffing.”

Mary gave an exasperated laugh, not quite believing the words coming from the male’s mouth. “You’re joking, right? Sirius just because on this rare occasion we didn’t get caught, it doesn’t mean you’re untouchable. Merlin. I can’t believe I even let you talk me into this.” She shook her head as she looked up at him, the smallest hint of a smile tugging at her lips.

“Oh please, you love my adventures. You wish you were invited along more often!” Sirius grinned as he nudged the small female. “C’mon Mary Moo, it really wasn’t that bad. Don’t get your nickers in a twist.” He wrapped an arm around her shoulders and gave a squeeze. 

“Just think about how that poor squid must feel knowing you’ve not even spared him a thought.” James put on a frown and shook his head.

“I think that so called poor squid is too busy thinking of how to get the next poor unsuspecting victim.”

Remus gave a snort of laughter as he shook his head at Sirius. “Y’know I find myself wondering why you haven’t got a girlfriend sometimes and then I remember it’s because no one could love yourself as much as you do.” He replied, turning to face his friend with a wide smirk was painted across his face.

“Not at all mate, they just wouldn’t be able to handle all of my goodness.” He grinned as he gestured to himself. “Nah, none of them can match up to the company of my amazing best mates, can they?” Sirius gave a shrug of his shoulders as playful smirk on his face. 

“You mean, you don’t think about these things?” He asked, raising a brow. 

“Can’t say I do, mate.” He gave a shrug. “I’m usually too busy thinking of other things.”

“Is it important? Because I’m kinda in the middle of something right now, not to be rude or anything.” Remus asked not really taking his eyes off of the bookshelf as he continued to scan the shelves. 

“It’s always important when I’m around, Moony old pal! I should always have your undivided attention!” Sirius complained like a child as he sulked with his arms over his chest.
