i think jj is such a misunderstood and underappreciated character because a lot of people just kind of treat her like a generic misogynist's idea of a woman with no inner life but she's literally a pessimist and a right hand man and a woman who had one foot perpetually out the door until she finally found someone who refused to let her go when she tried to run away. who told her she was worth staying. she's a woman who grew to be older than her big sister ever was and is imo fully aware of the inherent wrongness of that. she's defensive like a snarling dog when confronted with her own weakness and vulnerability. she's got a complicated relationship with her mother. and of course she's bisexual
