i love... cars

Reading made off to find your lover got me blasting setting sun by lord huron on loop for six straight hours, this fic rocks! There's something so delicate about how you've woven oscar and max together with the looming shadow of daniel in the background. Overall i just adore max in this fic. He is fuckoff scary and fears nothing and is so determined and ruthless and competent and cunning, but still so human at the same time. His determination can become singleminded to the point of foolishness, where he’ll hurt himself and others long before he'll ever admit to being wrong. He fears nothing, except he gets scared, a little, whenever lando takes his guns or when he's seen being vulnerable. He gets angry, and the anger only makes him more dangerous, more stubborn, more likely to break something that can't be fixed. There's something there about Daniel I think? What happened with him must have hurt, and he can't entirely hide that hurt from oscar because oscar already knows. I love all the little moments lando leaves them alone and comes back to find something has shifted. As much as i would love to read what they talk about, having those conversations happen off screen has a certain mystique that almost mimics max's reluctance to open up and lando's acceptance.
