Also I can't help but notice some level of similarity between me and Jimmy... lack of confidence, intense pessimism & sarcasm, sense of defeat and failure, etc.

We usually judge characters actions from above, so we get confident that "we're just not like them". But we can so easily end up like them.

After all, mw's one of main theme is about "the dark side of capitalism". We all live under capitalism, we're surrendering under it every second of our lives, endlessly needing 'more money' to live by. It makes us feeling defeated inside, bc we can't meet up to the high expectation it places on us…

And sometimes we let that pent-up frustration in bad ways. Usually we blame and hurt ourselves. Or throw some sharp words around. Some people gets despicable enough to hurt and degrade others to feel superior, like Jimmy.

This makes me feel deep fascination & weirdest kind of attatchment towards Jimmy. I take deep pleasure from dissecting Jimmy—his motives, unknown past, mental state, everything—to know his errors. (Even tho I mostly relate to Curly & Anya… have tons of character analysis of them in my notes💔)

We like to believe that we would just not be that bad when dealing with whatever they were dealing with,that we would just not be as weak and emotionally wrecked

when it comes to jimmy I kinda see it as "relatable feeling,terrible reaction" it does indeed suck to get the short end of the stick in life and it sucks even more when you have a friend that just seems to have everything effortlessly fall into place for him while no matter what you do everything seems to screw you over, those are frustrations most people can relate to but every rational human being is going to come to the conclusion that it's nobody's fault and no valid reason to ever harm someone else,he both deals with insecurities that are very real to the average person and the horror of just how terrible said average person could become if they rely on blaming others rather than questioning their own mindset.
