Loose sketches of a Makara Astralis Eclipse, inspired by the stream a few weeks back.
I think that Eclipse could actually be adapted pretty easily into the society of the Maraka Astralis, considering how at the end of the day, he's a jester and Saturn is a princess! They'd probably still meet in a dimension where they were born as the same species, which is cute. I designed him as a court jester, but Eclipse is a tad to nice to serve as one I fear (as their whole job was essentially just to make fun of/critique the people in power), which is why I think he would likely work alongside Sun and Moon as a trio. (Eclipse and Moon have a sort of good-cop bad-cop dynamic going on, meanwhile Sun is just pure comedic relief)
I also have an alternate version of the design where he's a more traditional Makara Astralis in line with the soldiers we've seen. However, I still imagine him taking on a more civilian role, so he's just a caretaker of the younger members of the clan who are too young to start training.
I tried to make his halo pretty simple since I remember the show implied there was a difference between royal halos and the ones civilians have, but if this one is still too complex maybe he could get it after marrying Saturn.
Notes below:
I don't think we know a lot of details about the Makara Astralis as a species, but I do vaguely remember at one point it being stated that there are a variety of skin colours they can have, though I don't remember it being stated what that range is (like, is it just shades of blue, a range of cool tones, or actually just the whole the whole kit and caboodle of colours like Novakids or Florans in Starbound?) This is why Eclipse has a more purple tinted skin-tone.
(Cause Pluto's introduction just makes me more interested about how Makara Astralis genetics work. His hair became red (on stream they speculated its dyed by blood, but thats a whole 'nother bag of worms)? And was initially orange? I thought Venus' hair was dyed orange. And between the Grand Celestial and the siblings' mom, they only have blue tones in their hair -- Venus' purple hair, both Venus and Neptune's black sclara, AND Neptune's darker skin was already very different, and now we've got a whole new recessive gene going on. Are the recessive genes just REALLY strong? Or do Makara Astralis genetics work differently altogether? Do all Makara Astralis families look so different from each other? Many questions,,)
i like to think that charlie used to sit down near the puppet to share her drawings with it or tell her about her day! i think she and the puppet were buddies before everything happened.
