Everyone had already arrived at the summer camp, preparing to find their cabins and see who they're rooming with. For the case of Valerie, it was just that. Obviously, Wemmbu forced her to make him carry his bags and he trailed around her until she found her cabin.
After a short while of asking around, she saw her cabin and went over, opening the door and placing her bags down to see Parrot, her cabin roommate.
"Oh, it's lovely to see you! I suppose I'm rooming with you, so it's a pleasure to be here. I'll be seeing you, Wem." She smiled, turning to Wemmbu and watching him put down her bags and leave.
"Well, it's amazing to be here. I'm sure it'll be great here."

Parrot was already in the cabin unpacking, having gotten his assignment directly from one of the counsellors he was friends with. They looked up with a smile when they heard their roommate, waving at her. "Hey- Valerie! Yeah, camp's always fun."
They glanced at Valerie as they folded their clothes in silence for a moment. She seemed nice enough, and was friends with Wemmbu, so objectively he had no actual qualms with her... but that conversation they'd had a few days earlier still left him feeling a little patronised.
Hopefully she wouldn't try to get in his way or anything— He wanted to be friends, of course, but he also planned to win as many of the activities and improve his reputation. "You looking forward to the camp this year?"
”Yeah, it’s actually my first summer camp…” She rubbed the back of her neck nervously, placing her bags on her bed as she started unpacking.
“I usually miss out because I just take the summer break as a chance for more studies…”
"You spend the whole school year studying, why would you spend your summer doing even more?" They chuckle lightly, placing the last of their folded clothes into the cupboard. They flop down onto their bed with a little sigh. "Not that it's like bad to study or anything— but everyone needs a break. You gotta stretch your wings, bro."
As if to demonstrate the point, Parrot stretches her arms high up, her wings unfurling wide with fluffed feathers before settling down. "This camp's got a lot of good physical activities and stuff to keep you in shape."
"Oh, well, I'd be down to try that. I did promise Wemmbu I'd go with him to the gym and work out before his volleyball tournument thingy... Or something, I forgot. He kept on disturbing me during my finals studies, so I didn't really... Remember much from that week." She started placing her clothes inside her closet.
"And yeah, taking a break is great and all, but when half the school is depending on you to teach them what to study, I should be educated just as much. But, a break wouldn't hurt."
Parrot's eyes narrow just a little, unnoticeable. He doesn't want to read too much into Valerie's words... but she does still seem condescending, with the way she assumes the whole school depends on her just to pass. Teachers exist for a reason. At the same time, Parrot commends her efforts to teach people. "It's good to help others, yeah, but don't overdo it."
"By the way, how long have you lived here?" They ask, a little ice-breaker. "I started high school last year, but I've only seen you around a few times with Wemmbu. I'm surprised we haven't seen each other around much."

my parents are making me go as well, but they're too busy to drop me off the first day so i was wondering if you maybe had space in your car for me to come with haha..
"I'll have to check with my parents. They're taking me since I can't drive. I'll have to warn you they're a little scary. Give me a sec..."
Kenadian takes around five minutes to ask their parents.
"They said yes!" she said excitedly. "One more thing, please don't talk about the whole 'girl' thing around them."
thank you bro like seriously!! and for the girl thing yeah totally- are they not like, chill about that stuff? cause if so maybe refer to me as just he around them as well
"I'm not entirely sure how they'd take it, they're chill about very little. And yeah that's good thinking, let's do that to be on the safer side!"

oh! he's always considered kenadian a good friend, but never spoke to her much, figuring she was more of the introvert type. it'd be nice to hang out with her more! well uh, i'm busy a lot but im going to a donation drive this weekend to give some of my old clothes if you wanna come with :D
"Perhaps? Do you think it's going to be crowded? I don't really do crowds."
uhh i mean.. i guess? maybe? i go every year after school ends and theres usually like around 20 other people there so- actually yeah probably. sorry bro. we can meet at the park sometime though? or do uh- like an escape room or something, i haven't done one in ages

uhh nah i dont think i know i emailed the counsellors last week about the assignments and they told me some have been fixed but they're still figuring out because some people dropped out of the camp. and apparently whichever pairings have been figured out are like not my business or whatever which like.. bro i get privacy and stuff but i should know anyways because i'm special yk
