I hate you, that’s not true. 

I don’t care.

I’m not an idiot and I don’t exactly trust him either. 

Cece sighed at the inconvenience but extended her hand anyways and nodded once. She understood why it was too awkward for Ashley to go back there and she did sympathize with the situation the other girl was in. “Are you like, doing okay? With the whole break up thing? You don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to.”

Ash was a little taken back not expecting for her to ask. “I mean I’m not 100% but I’m doing better I guess. Kyle and Eli really help with everything that’s been happening recently.“

Elijah looked at Ashley with a smile, nodding slowly. “The hair totally helps, don’t worry. I’m sure you’ll be fine.” Elijah said and sighed, shaking his head. “Well, you can always tell him before you start making out, I always tell Xander to not leave marks on my neck.” Elijah told Ashley, before realizing what he said. “I mean, nothing, sorry, autocorrect.” Elijah told Ashley with a nervous laugh. 

“Awesome, I don’t need any more weird looks.“ She said sitting down on the bed before grabbing a cookie and taking a bite. “I mean I could but- wait did you just say Xander? You fuck Xander? Isn’t that Kelsey’s awful boyfriend?” Ashley smiled if this was anyone else she never stood for cheating but Kelsey was a mega bitch who deserved it in her eyes. “This is a physical conversation.”

Elijah had been in Ashley’s room for a while now, looking at her as she put makeup on her neck. When she turned around, Elijah raised an eyebrow and nodded slowly. “I mean, it looks better than it did before…” He said as he looked closely at the other’s naked. “I can see that you’ve been pretty busy, but maybe you should tell Kyle to be careful. You don’t want people to know what the two are up to.”

“But if I put my hair down would you notice it too bad?“ She asked messing with her hair a bit. “I can’t really tell him when it’s happening you know, it feel really nice and then before I think about it it’s already happened. You know how it is. I feel like people just assume or already know, this school loves to talk. I just want to cover it up a little.“

Ashley didn’t mind the marks on her neck sometimes she actually enjoyed them but she wasn’t very thrilled on the showing them off part. Feeling weird about having to walk around with people looking at her and knowing exactly what those hickies on her neck meant. So that meant she had to try and cover them up with makeup. “Okay does it look better or worse?“ She asked turning around to Eli to show him her neck. 

“That’s love, missing you when you’re not here and staying no matter how hard it gets when you are here.” He said as he rested his head against hers, “We aren’t supposed to be easy but we’re supposed to be strong,” he said softly as his thumb caressed her cheek. “I wish you trusted me again.”

“I’m mad at you, I’m so mad.“ Trying to express that she was still angry but his closeness just made her melt. She rubbed her nose against his enjoying the closeness even kissing his hand for a moment. “I want to try and trust you again. I really do, I think I just need time.”

“I love you too I swear,” he said following behind her after closing the door. “People are wrong,” he said knowing that their opinion was biased, “Ash, you are the best thing in my life,” he said sitting on the bed as he gently cupped her face, prepared to get her some water and put her to bed. “I love you so much and that never changed, and without you- it feels painful,” she had been the constant since middle school for him. 

Ashley rubbed her face against his hand like a hurt animal, his touch being something she had missed for a long time. It was the longest they’ve been without touching and her drunk mind craved his touches. “It feels like I haven’t breathed since you’ve been gone, I’ve been so sad.“ Almost whispering into his hand. “I wish everything hadn’t gotten so bad. I wish we were younger again.“ 

As he opened the door he was surprised to see Ashley there, drunk- she never drinks.  He felt her hands on his face and looked at her as she asked why he was so mean, “I don’t know- I don’t mean to be,” he never meant to be mean to her, she honestly was the last person he wanted to hurt.

“But you are and I love you like so so so much. Like this much!“ She slurred putting her hands out so that her arms made a T shape. “People tell me I shouldn’t anymore but I do. You’re the only person I’ve ever been with and I just I can’t- I don’t want- I have never pictured my life without you in it.“ The room was starting to get dizzy again as she crashed down on Dukes bed.

Cece furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. Why would Kyle leave something in her room? Wasn’t Ashley dating Kyle’s roommate? Wait, that’s right, she remembered what happened. Kyle’s roommate cheated on her and then she and Kyle hooked up. Cece didn’t like thinking about girls that are hooking up with her brother. It was weird and gross. “He has football practice until five today.” 

“Gotcha, can you just give this to him? I know it must be annoying but it’s not like I can drop it off into his room.“ She said digging into her back pack to give Cece her brothers sweater. A part of her felt bad it probably wasn’t easy having a brother especially when people bother her about him. 

She banged on Duke’s door way too drunk but wanting to talk to him, not being able to stop herself. As he finally opened the door she brushed in dizzyingly walking over to him. “Hey, you know you’re so fucking mean but I just fucking-“ Ashleys said holding his face drunkly with one hand before moving close to him. “I love you so fucking much. You’re like the only person I’ve ever loved. Ever. But you’re so mean why are you so mean?”
