The King of Puns.

Lili laughed as Cole clarified he’d only murder other people - this right here was the proof she needed that this weirdo was her soul mate. Only he could say that to her and Lili wouldn’t run screaming for the hills. She tucked her lip between her teeth, feeling a rush of affection for him wash over her and finishing her slice of pizza, laid her head on his shoulder. She was more watching him than the episode but when Cole let out a heated huff, Lili chuckled. “Nobody said these murderers were smart. I once watched an episode where the guy took his victim’s credit card and signed his own name.” Shaking her head, Lili watched the TV until they revealed whodunit..and naturally, it was the sister. “You’re too smart,” she declared to Cole, reaching over for another slice of pizza. “Sometimes you scare me.”

“I thought you said you wanted olives?” Cole asked her, watching in amusement as she picked the vegetable off the pizza and made a pile on the lid. “You know you could eat the half without olives if you didn’t want to bother picking them off” Cole was sure he’d never really know what went on inside Lili’s head or rather pregnant Lili’s head. Most days she seemed easy to read and other days he was completely clueless as to what her train of thought was. 

He pulled a few glasses from the cupboard and once they’d been filled, set the two waters down on the coffee table just in front of them before taking a seat next to Lili and beginning to eat as the show started to play. “I reckon it’s going to either be the boyfriend’s sister or her brother” He said, a few minutes into the show. 

“Nope,” was Lili’s simple answer as she kept her eyes trained on the TV. Her cravings came and went and now the thought of olives made her gag. She didn’t know why Charlotte was so picky (lie), but it was certainly keeping Cole on his toes. Picking her glass of water up, Lili pouted for a few seconds that it wasn’t Mountain Dew but drank it dutifully. She had had to cut back on the junk food during the pregnancy, especially after learning women didn’t really have to eat for two. She might need to ingest a few more calories than normal but it wasn’t the exaggerated amount books, television and films led her to believe. It was more unhealthy to gain a large amount of weight during pregnancy and Lili was determined to do everything right to keep Charlotte happy and healthy.

“I love you,” Lili called out to Cole as he left and dragged her blanket up to her chin with a smile on her lips. She had lucked out so much to get a man as sweet and generous as Cole, no matter how much the media and others tried to tell her their relationship was too good to last. They survived on communication, trust, and honesty and that was what would keep them together. She pressed play on an episode she had paused while answering Cole’s questions earlier but like always, her mind wasn’t fully there until she knew Cole was going to be beside her.

When he got back, the craving for olives had vanished but the smell of cheesy pizza still made Lili’s stomach rumble. Pulling a face at the olives, Lili delicately pulled them off and stuck them on the pizza lid. “Olives are gross,” she decided and then patted the spot next to her. “Yes. Let’s be detectives.”

“I kind of want olives,” Lili commented from her position on the couch. She didn’t plan on moving all weekend. She had been more tired than usual lately and her legs were starting to get cramps sporadically - all normal, according to her doctor, but it just made her want to spend her free time curled up underneath the covers. A part of her felt bad that Cole was busy working away to get things done but the bigger part of her was just admiring watching his muscles flex as he moved boxes. She could be shallow and admire her fiance for a while. “Half cheese, half with olive toppings.” Lili had never liked olives but apparently Charlotte really wanted that salty topping.

“I’m starving,” she stressed and stretched out, her toes tipping towards the ends of the couch and Lili pulled her blanket further over her. “I just want pizza, you, and Netflix. We can watch Forensic Files and try to figure out whodunit before the episode ends.” Smiling at Cole, Lili jutted her lips out in a pout afterwards..just for good measure.

“I’m still listening” Cole told Lili as he walked from the lounge room into the bedroom and began to change from his sweats into some jeans, slipping on a shirt and his Sherpa jacket before filling his pockets with his phone and wallet. He walked back out, grabbing the keys from the bowl and putting his shoes on “So half cheese and half with olives? Alright, I’ll be back. Text me if you need anything else” He spoke, making his way to the front door and locking it behind him.
