Vox is sitting in a bar when he notices a couple arguing. The girl accuses the guy of cheating and says that relationships should be built on trust. The guy replies, «We’re in hell, babe — there’s not even friendship here, let alone trust». This phrase triggers something in Vox’s heart, so he sits down next to the girl, who is crying after the breakup, and offers her a drink.

A little about Charlie and Vox's relationship.

At first, Charlie sees Vox as a fellow loser in love, just like herself — a friendly guy. But with each new meeting and every piece of advice, Vox becomes a mentor, even a bit of a parental figure, like a cool uncle. For Charlie, Vox is a man of contrasts: he's playful and just as hyperactive as she is, yet at the same time he's quite wise and able to provide the kind of support her own family doesn't give her.

For Vox, Charlie is a protégée. At the very beginning, he sees her only as a tool to feed his ego, but later he begins to see a younger version of himself in her. I think Vox's language of love is gifts. It’s influenced by the environment he lived in, where a man is supposed to be a rock‑solid breadwinner for the family. «Want a new camera for the studio? Sure, babe, I’ll take care of everything», «We had a fight? Here, take a new collection of outfits — and the problem will be solved, right?»

He doesn’t know and was never taught how to express care through physical contact and words. So I think that after the second season, among other things, he would start learning how to talk about his feelings.
