Go to any nail salon, and don't feel bad about trying a few until you find one you like. Get acrylic nails with tips, I do almond shaped. They should glue a plastic tip onto your nail and use a paint brush to apply white powder that turns into a very very hard substance. They'll paint over that and all in it'll cost around $60 (US).

When I tell you these are strong...I have never broken one since is started doing them this way.

Eventually your actual nails will grow out, and every 3-4 weeks go back for a "fill in", where they take the paint off, re-fill with the acrylic powder, reshape, and repaint which is wayyyyy faster and costs only like $45 for me.
