Messing around with the bluetheif’s design.. I wasn’t really happy with the teeth and think it having a little secret beak works better for what I want

tbh drawing a preop transguy is one thing but i have seen a weirdly high amount of artists exclusively drawing transguy charas and charas they hc as transguys topless breasting boobily in every single art they draw of him with the excuse that transguys without top surgery exist which is offputting and dissonant bc usually theyre not objectifying transgirl charas or cis charas of either gender the same way. so idk having a knee jerk reaction about preop transguys in peoples art doesn’t come from nowhere even if its misplaced and inappropriate sometimes. 🫤

Kind of funny but years ago an artist i followed on Twitter had someone bothering them/asking them to censor art of a transmasc character with breasts because it made them dysphoric and it pissed me off so bad that I almost entirely avoid drawing men who've had top surgery or an equivalent. Like the way Other People depict bodies doesn't have to be tailored to your personal hangups. I don't really care if you only want to engage with idealized images of what you think a trans body should look like, or what you look like or what you want to look like, different people have different relationships with themselves and this sort of thing and they're not hurting you by using art to explore that

Your Picogryphs seem to remind me of Furbies. Were they actually inspired somewhat by these toys or was it a mere coincidence they happen to look like Furbies?

I don’t really know if it’s something that can properly be called a coincidence, but it wasn’t really fully intentional or something I set out to do. Picogryphs (and mouseworld as a setting in general), is very specifically made with the intent of being something that would have been catnip for my child self, ie. it is beastiariable setting focusing on a world of tiny people. Initially they were more outright little mouse gryphons, but I started playing around with phylogeny and spec evo for fun, since that kind of world building appeals to me in almost a puzzle box sort of way and I love making up weird organisms. But the design that resulted in wasn’t that compelling to me in the end, and ultimately the kind of vibe I want is more like, borrowers or gnomey (or like, fantastic planet,,, (those tiny people are not actually tiny but yk what I mean)) so I decided to try and make them a bit more human-faced while still keeping them compliant with the spec evo I’ve been doing, and I liked the effect of covering their mouthparts with a bulbous lip that looked a bit like a cartoony nose.
