Let's Make Like Fabric Softener and Snuggle
Arin watched the small struggle Suzy went through to pull herself back up onto the washing machine, a smile settling over his lips. It wasn’t meant at all in malice when he chuckled a little, because he was just mostly realizing how small the other seemed to be, the wiggle of her hips to help boost her up onto the closed lid more amusing than anything else. As Suzy settled in and start to talk, Arin shifted himself as well, turning sideways on the hard metal to face her and engage in the conversation. And the more Suzy spoke, the more Arin was surprised, because they had a lot in common.
"Seriously?" He asked, showing his surprise and interested simultaneously as he leaned forward slightly, pressing his elbows against his thighs. "I pretty much like all those things, too." Arin smiled, broad and at ease once again. He snorted a small laugh shrugging a shoulder. "Well, maybe not the bug part, but still. I draw a lot and honestly, I’d love to be an animator if I could pull that off, but I don’t know." There was a dip in his tone for a moment, because Arin didn’t like to think about his future very often or all the classes he purposely skipped. So he breezed on quickly.
"I spend just about all my time playing video games, though. I probably would’ve brought my DS down with me if I’d bothered to think about it," he told Suzy, looking back across to her. Arin was still amazed that so many of their interests lined up, that somehow he’d managed to run into the one person who had the same hobbies as him in the laundry room at almost three AM. "Japan is definitely really cool, though. I’ve been thinking about taking Japanese lessons here, maybe."
Suzy's body was angled forward but her head was looking at Arin, an attentive look on face. But the plain yet content expression quickly changed into a look of excitement when he said they had a lot in common. She didn't expect the bug thing to be something mutual in between them, it was hard to find anyone who loved bugs as much as she did, but the drawing thing made her happy. "Oh come on, I'll show you one of my animations sometime they are so simple and you could definitely pull something like them off."
"If I had known my iPod was going to die I would've brought down my DS too, it's always my backpack plan whenever other electronics are not cooperating. But yeah, video games are awesome and if I understood computers even a little bit I'd be designing them," she said, shrugging.
"Don't even get me started on how cool Japan is. All the culture and tradition mixed with modern stuff just makes me so happy." It was true, talking about Japan cheered her up a little bit from the longing mood she had been in before. "That would be really cool and I'd totally admire you if you picked up the language even in the slightest bit." It was serendipitous that she had been searching the whole school for someone she could be friendly with and that all she had to find that someone was to stop looking.
