Random self reblog, but I've been thinking about the direction for my art again and it's fun that this random experimental piece of Elliot Carver from the James Bond franchise could be considered the predecessor to my art style development in the past several months...I'll ramble about my art further, but I am having fun reminiscing haha.
Karl (Collapse Postulate) is a bit tricky to come up with a design for? I felt clever for Irwyn (Schrodinger Equation) because I managed to come up with a design and a few people have confirmed he does have equation aspects which is good...However, Karl is so tricky to think up of something where people who know what the collapse postulate is would know "yeah that's the collapse postulate personification" in isolation since I did think up of ideas when considered in conjunction with Irwyn.
I know that measurement will definitely be important to her character like...tinted sunglasses (much like Giang who is the GRW theory where collapses do happen haha)

I decided to make Irwyn have studied archaeology (he'd be fond of contemporary archaeology) since that felt strangely fitting for a personified Schrodinger equation? It's nice to see the world change over time coupled with the very field he studied. Plus, it might be funny if he uses his skills from excavation for thievery with Karl now haha.
Though, it was definitely something he once loved doing, but I'm thinking that a university scandal happened regarding the professor who made him truly passionate about archaeology made him disillusioned with the subject...Then, I think that since he turned to crime, he'd convince himself that there's no point in trying to go back given that nobody would ever take him in.
Wait. Enlightened idea of Karl (collapse postulate personification) being genderfluid like his gender collapses into the eigenstate of being a guy one day while measuring himself. Determining the probability of what gender she'll collapse into via the Born rule.
On that note, I think I'll integrate the Born rule into their characterization instead of having it as a separate character. There's an opportunity for clever wordplay due to Max Born's surname coinciding with the word "born" that I'll use.

Erwin - Schrodinger Equation Personification Quick Concept
I have some design notes, but I'd like for people to judge if he actually reads like the equation before I explain haha. They're beneath the cut:
I've been working on Karl (Collapse Postulate personification) and Erwin (Schrodinger Equation personification) recently who are my funny crime duo who aspire to be cat burglars, but I do want to say that they'll be taken more seriously in act 2. They're meant to be initially comedy relief recurring thieves with Erwin as the straight (not that way) man to Karl's funny man. However, they do ultimately turn around since they're personifications of abstract concepts learning how to be human too like the detectives.
Reworked the case of the measurement problem as well where...the owners of the house they broke into are away for dinner and they left their cat at home. Under the cut for content warnings relating to pet death:
I was anticipating my sleep schedule to be killed, but the Vietnamese games at the ASEAN Championship are actually pretty decent times for me in the morning. Anyway, I am watching Timor-Leste vs Vietnam right now instead of working on a paper due today at midnight.

Three-Body community is very active this year, and we got these two official art to celebrate Shi Qiang's birthday on July 22nd. It looks like that Ding Yi dragged Dashi to a surprise birthday party, and Wang Miao was there to capture his reaction. And he got really surprised either by the party or that poster or both LOL.
One thing that hints Shiwang on the poster is the two lines right below his name 史强. It says "He doesn't understand quantum physics, but he knows how to get to the scientist".

Three-Body community's weibo account has been posting these daily calendar pages this month with a quote from the novels. Of course on July 22nd, Shi Qiang's birthday, we got a Shi Qiang quote, and it's that iconic bug line. And thankfully, they included Miaomiao in the shot, but excluded Ding Yi LOL. This is definitely the wholesome Shiwang content I need on Dashi's birthday.
I also want to point out that on traditional chinese calendars, you always get today's dos and don'ts (eg. today is good for having a wedding; today is bad for moving). And on Shi Qiang's birthday, it says the day is good for having luzhu which is his favourite food (even his Three-Body game username is luzhu/卤煮). This is really a very Shiwang thing too because they always go to that luzhu diner to meet up and eat.
Since we are already talking about the calendar, on July 20th, it quoted something Wang Miao said to Shi Qiang which is "Your bravery is coming from ignorance", and the dos and don'ts for that day is that you should not bicker. This is also such a Shiwang thing to mention because they bicker like an old married couple all the damn time LOL. We also get the silhouette of Miaomiao's profile and Shi Qiang holding a gun, so this is obviously Shiwang themed.
Anyways, I really appreciate the staff behing Three-Body community's weibo account. I can't wait to see what they come up with in November for Miaomiao's birthday. As for today, I'm sure after the hot pot party, Dashi and Miaomiao would go to that luzhu diner to have their own little celebration <3.
Documenting my current philosophy of chemistry research because I'll admit that I have not taken a chemistry class since highschool... However, I also really want to work on that periodic table and Water Margin combination for a new OC project I mentioned previously, so I'm trying to do some research even if it's kind of overwhelming haha. I'm looking at Philosophy of Chemistry: Synthesis of a New Discipline and the introductory chapter really inspired me where it's about the invisibility of chemistry in philosophy. The idea of the philosophy of chemistry as being on the margins (heh) of the philosophy of science is something I definitely want to focus on since I wanted a similar metaphilosophical message like Quantum Detective Agency.
Okay, funny thing but I am at the point where I recognize a lot of notable philosophers of quantum mechanics now and you can imagine how going from a branch where I know a lot of people to "I recognize none of you" might be overwhelming for me haha. Though, I did look into Eric Scerri and he has a cool appropriately periodic table themed website!

I wonder if watching Vietnamese football will be what finally makes me fluent in the language haha......After the World Cup, I'd like to get into football more (ASEAN Championship soon yay). This is another step towards my goal of achieving Vietnamese uncle aura.

I was looking through the description for Saigon Soul Revival's upcoming album on their Bandcamp (here) and got so jumpscared in the best way possible...Nobody can understand how monumental this is for me holy shit.
Information so surreal I had to double check if it was actually real...??? Okay, so Vietnamese bands tend to be obscure internationally and Saigon Soul Revival (which I know have a song included in The Sympathizer so they're getting more of an international presence <- I have not watched that though) is particularly niche. By the way, listen to Saigon Soul Revival. If you like classic rock and soul, then it's a revival band trying to bring back sounds in the 60s-70s!
