Wincest is about Fictional characters in a Fictional world played by non-related hot men with loads of chemistry, who're written as crazy about each other. Most people understand when things are not real. It's how we enjoy media about serial killers/cannibals and other dark themed content. To say we support incest in real life is what's grossin all of this discussion. Sorry, im NOT hot for my sisters. Neither would I die for them/sell my soul for them/drop any romantic relationship I have to be with them. I do not think my world revolves around them and im not extreemly possessive of them. Like I've been in love with my husband since I was 15. We have a good, strong marriage, three teen/young adult kids, and I'm very dependent on him. I do not know how I would go on if he died before me but I still would not actually sell my soul to bring him back (especially since he's likely cracking a cold one in heaven) and I also would not damn the whole world to save him. And I really love this man. So what do Sam and Dean feel if they would? And if you say they are just fictional characters please go back to MY first point. OK, end rant.

Okay all my wincest friends I know this is J2 and some of you might not care for RPF but I promise this one is worth it. Just gave this a reread and even though I remembered how much I loved it last time it was even better than I remembered!!!!!! the dom/sub sex is scorching hot but it's the characters, the emotion, the relationship that builds between them, that sets it apart. Such a damn good read.
Imagine Sam selling his body as a side hustle while at Stanford to make ends meet...
He's getting railed by closeted frat guys who can never look him in the eyes when they come, who get dressed faster than the speed of light when they're done, and then leave him alone in the small dorm beds, all for some quick cash. He doesn't think it's that bad, as long as Jess doesn't find out.
Plus, it pays pretty well. There are a lot of "straight" dudes out there willing to empty their wallets for a night with the cute law student.
But rumors spread fast around campus, and when a video gets posted on some site of Sam getting fucked from both ends, moaning and whimpering like a girl, his social life collapses.
Jess dumps him, his grades begin slipping, and all his friends start talking behind his back, acting like they're immature teenagers still in high school.
But the worst part is something Sam doesn't even know of yet.
In the middle of nowhere, in some dark and moldy motel room, Dean is sat in his bed staring at his computer screen.
He's watching his baby brother, his Sammy, getting destroyed by some random dudes.
One of those fandom things that I love is when there’s new characters around and, with the unwavering confidence of an old farmer appraising cattle, fanfic authors take one good look at them, tilt their imaginary hat, and go “Aye. Praise kink, that one. Mighty case of praise kink if I ever saw one.” And everyone else just “aye.”
“I don’t think the Highschool AU is going to come in too strong this year. Fandoms a touch jaded for that. But the hurt/comfort is growin’ thick as weeds and twice as fast. It’ll be a good harvest, fer sure.”
I just rewatched the scene in S8 E14, where Dean makes burgers for Sam and himself. Of course, I usually watch the show in the original English version. But sometimes I’m curious to see how the scenes were adapted into my language. And in this case the difference is pretty cute.
In the original English version, Dean says to Sam, “I’m nesting, okay?” In the German dubbed version, Dean says, in a literal translation: „Ich baue uns ein Nest, okay?“ - “I’m building us a nest, okay?” 🥰🪺

Dean goes missing, and the spell to track him down requires “a piece of the thing he loves most” and when Rowena mentions that Sam just sighs and goes “So does hair or blood count or do I need to start cutting off fingers?”

Summary:
If there were good demons, bad angels, and monsters with best friend material, just why the hell couldn’t Sam Winchester be in love with his older brother?
Dean doesn’t mean to actually come out and ask it.
“Do you like me?”
The question had been bubbling and brewing in Dean’s skull since they left town. It had left his head aching like the excoriations on his forearm left by his own fingernails. The dark car and long road had only given him time to stew.
Sam doesn’t even look up from his book.
“No,” he says. “You’re an asshole.”
Dean takes it on the chin. He nods, slowly, swallowing heavily. Yeah, he thinks, that’s fair.
It hurts like a sonovabitch, but yeah. That’s fair.
"Yeah." He says, and wants to kick himself for how pinched it sounds. He leans over and changes the channel. Soft rock isn't doing it for him anymore, and if he hears Dave Grohl for one more second he's going to scream.
Especially post-Hell, Dean knows he's not a fucking picnic.
But Sam's made it clear as young as twelve that he didn't like Dean very much at all. If time were money, Sam would prefer to spend his elsewhere.
Dean's not why he thought twelve years and a hell of a lot of baggage later, Sam would change his mind.
The radio clicks off. Dean jolts a little, surprised, and looks over to see Sam with his book closed in his lap and a frown on his face. He looks troubled about something, and Dean reaches back to the radio.
"Okay, fine, no '80s. You don't gotta--"
"What?" Sam asks, but it doesn't really sound like a question.
Dean reaches for the radio again, but Sam bumps his hand out of the way with his own. Dean just blinks at him, turning back to look at the road every few seconds. Sam looks annoyingly thoughtful, like he's stripping Dean down for parts.
"No, what was that?" Sam asks, "You got all weird."
Dean scoffs. "What?" He says, "No."
But yeah he got fucking weird. What the hell else is he supposed to be when his worst fears are confirmed? Okay, Days of Our Lives, calm down. When his worst suspicions are confirmed.
Sam doesn't look convinced--in fact, he looks unhappy--so Dean continues. Time to get this out of weird emotional territory. One asshole, annoying older brother, coming right up.
"I didn't get weird. Your face is weird." Dean says. Sam's frown deepens.
"Ask it again.” Sam says. Dean ignores him, finally giving up on the radio when Sam presses his fingers against the radio to block all of the controls. Dean puts both of his hands on the steering wheel, sighing. “Why did you ask me that?"
“Why did I ask you what, Sam?” Dean’s eyes never leave the road. They’re on a genuine interstate, and they blow past a semi in the right lane. A sports car that’s been trailing Dean for the past fifty miles finally pulls off.
“Didn’t mean anything by it. Let it go.” Dean says, when Sam’s petulant, insistent silence—and his narrowed eyes on the side of Dean’s face—finally eats at him.
A loaded pause, and Dean can already tell Sam is not letting this go.
“Do I like you?” Sam repeats. “What do you mean?”
Dean’s tenses, a full-body cringe that makes him want to launch himself out of the car and onto the interstate. He’s quiet for a beat longer, but Sam has turned all of his bone-melting attention his way, so Dean sees no way out of this one.
“I mean, y’know, you’re my little brother so…that’s whatever,” Dean waffles, feeling uncomfortably bashful at saying the actual “L” word, because this isn’t an after-school special goddamnit, “But do you actually like me? As, y’know a person? A guy? Back in Rock Ridge…you never answered.”
In Sam’s defense, Dean had spat a whole bunch of other shit at him about their jobs being dangerous and Sam being gassy, but Sam’s lack of answer had really been eating him.
It’s skin-peelingly insecure to ask. Agonizingly earnest.
Dean’s positive it’s the curse, still fading away in his veins. He’d seen splashes of yellow in Sam’s irises until they’d crossed state lines, and Dean still feels all squirmy and antsy inside, like something is gnawing at his gut.
Dean would blow his brains out before he’d ask this normally. But…god. It had been writhing inside of him, and even though the complete humiliation of asking burns behind his eyes, it’s a relief to get it out.
“Dean, pull the car over.”
Dean’s head snaps to the side, where Sam is looking forward again. He gestures at a rest stop coming up in two miles, mouth in a thin line.
“What? No!” Dean sputters. “It’s not a big deal, man, forget it.”
His heartbeat roars in his ears. Is Sam going to tuck and roll? Does he want to have this conversation where he can yell at Dean face-to-face? Is he afraid Dean’s going to yank the steering wheel into a guardrail if he doesn’t give Dean the answer he wants?
Sam has a weird expression on his face that Dean can’t quite parse out, given he can only see half of it.
“Pull over.” Sam says, firmer, and—okay, maybe Sam is onto something about Dean crashing the car and killing himself. Dean puts the blinker on with a stone in his gut.
He soars over the smooth pavement of the off ramp with the white-hot, leaden weight of mortification making it hard to breathe.
They pull into the parking lot, and the only other car there is made brown by the yellow, watery light from the street lamps.
Dean parks as far away from it as possible, and in front of a square of grass in case Sam wants to flail his arms while he’s telling Dean off for being a child. The shift into park sounds like dislocating a finger.
They sit in heavy silence for a long moment, and keeps his mouth fully shut. He’s said enough insane shit for one night, thanks.
Sam turns on the seat, so he’s facing Dean with his body.
“I’m only going to say this once, yeah?” Sam says, and Dean closes his eyes briefly. I know you’re lying to me. I hear you crying in your sleep. Ruby heard what you did in Hell. How could you? How can I like being around someone I can’t even trust? You’re disgusting.
So it’s a surprise when Sam says, “I don’t know if this is about Jack and Luther, or the curse still lingering, or if this is about the stuff you’re clearly not ready to tell me, and that’s fine.” Sam huffs a laugh. “But Dean. C’mon.”
He says it so lightly, like Dean’s a fucking idiot. Dean looks over at Sam, indignation and surprise warring to win out. Sam is…smiling. It’s soft and cautious, like he knows Dean’s two seconds away from opening the door and running.
“You’re my best friend.” Sam says, as soft as anything. “Yeah. I like you, man.”
Dean’s throat is uncomfortably tight. He kind of wants to burst into hysterical relieved sobbing. He kind of wants to rip his own fingernails out.
Dean doesn’t want to point out that he’s Sam’s only friend. Besides Ruby. Or Bobby. Or those kids from Stanford. Or whoever he hunted with while Dean was gone. So you know what, yeah, maybe Dean is Sam’s best friend.
Best friend. Dean’s rarely—if ever—been anyone’s best friend. He’s been a son and a brother and a good kid, but he never stuck around long enough to be someone’s best friend.
The title feels wieldy, significant. The battered, shaking, besieged Little Dean that’s been trapped behind Dean’s sternum for the past few days collapses to his knees, relieved.
Dean is Sam’s best friend.
He wants to say it back, because duh, Sam is kind of Dean’s whole…thing. Person. Shtick. But actually opening his mouth and saying You’re my best friend too feels uncomfortably juvenile and chick-lit, and the words get caught in his throat.
“Oh.” He murmurs. His face feels hot. “Okay. You’re um. Yeah.”
“Yeah, I know.” Sam says, genuinely laughing this time, and Dean flips him off. He can feel the tips of his ears burn.
“Oh shaddup.” Dean mutters. He shifts the car into drive, avoiding Sam’s gaze. His chest feels lighter than it has in days, despite the humiliation still making his cheeks pink. “Let’s never talk about this again, yeah?”
Sam scoffs a little laugh as they pull back onto the interstate, and leans over to croon,
“You don’t want me to pet your hair and tell you how much I looooove you? How much you’re my wery faworite pewson ever?”
Dean shoves at Sam’s shoulder half-heartedly, and Sam sways out of his personal space and back into his seat, laughing the whole way.
“Bitch.” Dean rolls his eyes. Sam’s still giggling when he responds,
“Jerk.”
Dean can’t help it. He smiles all the way to Iowa.

Sam wakes up and things are different. Dean’s different. Sam’s not himself – and it looks like the world is coming to an end. Sam’s not supposed to be here, but someone’s trying to teach him a lesson.

It's criminal how few hits this has for how great it is. Definitely one of my fav end verse fics I've read. it has such a great premise of Sam being sent forward but not quite as himself and realizing this is a lesson he's supposed to learn from. Also truly love how he sees future Dean and FALLs in LOVE with him.
Girl I just wanna tell you I find your bookbinding INCREDIBLY creative and awesome. Earlier this month I thought about bookbinding a fic I like as well but kinda let it go and after seeing your post I’m sooo inspired. I haven’t even read the saxxx fic and yet!
Thank you! 🥰
If you're interested in fanbinding/bookbinding, I highly recommend checking out Renegade Bookbinding Guild here on Tumblr or on their website. They have tons of information.
Let me tell you, as someone who loves books and fan fiction, there is nothing better than taking a digital story and creating a physical copy of it that you can hold in your hands and keep on your bookshelf.
The rules are similar to last year, though I've added one:
Don't be an asshole.
Your work must feature an alternate universe (AU). Yes, canon divergence counts as an AU for the purposes of this fest.
Do not use generative AI.
It's simply too hot to be more restrictive than that.
Fill as many or as few prompts as you like, in whichever order you like.
Interpret the prompts how you like.
Ship who you like, or ship no one at all.
Cross over with another fandom if you like, as long as at least one SPN character or actor is the main focus of your work. (Yes, SPN RPF is welcome here too!)
Make it as spicy as you like. Just, y'know, keep in mind Tumblr's rules, and tag accordingly if you post on AO3.
Post where you like, any time between now and the end of August. (But let's be real, if you tag me in September, I'm still gonna reblog you. Like I said, rules are for cooler weather!)
If you post here on Tumblr, don't forget to tag me @spnheadbang so I can reblog you! If you post on AO3, here is the collection.
Message or send an ask if you have questions, but otherwise, have fun and stay cool out there!
It's been a while since I watched Supernatural, so don't take my opinions as gospel or anything. But I think Dean is self-hating to the point of narcissism in some ways. Don't get me wrong, I empathise with Dean and understand why fans largely do too. But his self-loathing warps his perception and becomes the centre of EVERYTHING and at times that really has ripple effects on those around him - particularly Sam.
Take their childhood, Sam has a right to mourn the fact that he didn't get a normal childhood. He's allowed to be angry that he didn't get a home, a present father, a stable community, and consistent education. But whenever Sam attempts to express his complicated feelings about his childhood, Dean immediately interprets it as ' oh I was supposed to look out for you. Are you saying I failed? Are you confirming I'm worthless?' which grinds the conversation to a complete halt. Because of Dean's intense self-criticism, Sam can never really be 100% honest with him or ask for support with his own issues, especially regarding their childhood. As anything outside of 100% gratitude just becomes another stick for Dean to beat himself with, and the conversation is immediately derailed.
Not only does Deans self-hatred mean that Sam's expression of his own experiences are pretty consistently shut down. In some ways, I think Dean strips Sam of his autonomy - he's so self-loathing, he sees every decision Sam makes as being about/a reaction to him. A good example of this is Stanford. Rather than understanding Stanford for what it was, an attempt by Sam to carve out a better life from himself and escape hunting. Dean views it as betrayal or abandonment, some re-affirmation of his own belief that he's not worth caring about. Rather than understanding it's a rejection of hunting, he sees it as Sam rejecting him. To Dean, Sam isn't attempting to find a better life, he's punishing the family.
Overall, it's interesting that people largely and rightfully sympathise with Dean due to his self-hatred. However, I don't see as much discussion about how his self-hatred doesn't just hurt him, it hurts those he's close to, as it colours his interpretation of their every action. Dean's self-loathing is always the biggest thing in the room and that has consequences.

This scene in Supernatural, holly shit! I need to talk about it.
S02 E17 - "Heart"
First Werewolf case on the show..
I fear this episode might not be as memorable for the fandom on the grand scheme of things, but I'm hoping to god I'm wrong. It shows so much about both Sam and Dean's characters.
Sam's situation quite obviously mirrors Madison's; she is a good person who becomes a monster despite her own wishes. She doesn't want to hurt and doesn't want to kill, yet has no way of stopping herself. And it reflects Sam's fears about himself by a 100%.
It doesn't escape me that when Sam is trying to comfort Madison he repeats a lot of the things Dean has said to him. "We'll find a way", "I will save you".
Which is all levels of heartbreaking.
When Sam breaks down crying at the end of the episode there's so many emotions at play. There's grief for Madison and for himself, anger at his own powerlessness and I think under all of it, a lot of fear.
All of this time, both Sam and Dean have been holding on to this hope that they will be able to help Sam escape the demons plan. Yet this is the perfect example that sometimes there's no way out... No matter how much you want it.
I also think it speaks volumes that Sam decides to kill Madison himself. After all, he knows exactly what it means to ask someone to kill you.
At the end, when Sam is charging up to shoting her, there's a moment where he turns to look at Dean, and for a split second he genuinely looks so young and lost. It's the most heartbreaking thing I've seen so far.
And you just know he was looking at Dean to comfort himself, to allow himself a moment of weakness before soldering on.
I already knew Dean was Sam's safe space before this, but this pretty much solidifies it to me.
And Dean...
All during the conversation between Maddison and Sam Dean keeps looking at his brother, eyes tracking him. He notices the exact second it all becomes too much for Sam, and is there to take the reponsability off his hands immediately.
It's a level of familiarty I honestly wasn't expecting. Dean knew exactly when Sammy needed him... You just know it must've destroyed him to not be able to protect Sam from the situation.
By the time Sam leaves with the gun Dean is crying and when he hears the gunshot he flinches.
To me this scene is about fears.
Sam's greatest fear is to become a monster. Dean's greatest fear is to see Sam hurting.
