Wincest is about Fictional characters in a Fictional world played by non-related hot men with loads of chemistry, who're written as crazy about each other. Most people understand when things are not real. It's how we enjoy media about serial killers/cannibals and other dark themed content. To say we support incest in real life is what's grossin all of this discussion. Sorry, im NOT hot for my sisters. Neither would I die for them/sell my soul for them/drop any romantic relationship I have to be with them. I do not think my world revolves around them and im not extreemly possessive of them. Like I've been in love with my husband since I was 15. We have a good, strong marriage, three teen/young adult kids, and I'm very dependent on him. I do not know how I would go on if he died before me but I still would not actually sell my soul to bring him back (especially since he's likely cracking a cold one in heaven) and I also would not damn the whole world to save him. And I really love this man. So what do Sam and Dean feel if they would? And if you say they are just fictional characters please go back to MY first point. OK, end rant.

supernatural is such a fuckass show to try and analyze because ill look at the significant decline in sam being the one to actually drive the impala and draw up conclusions about how it's a metaphor for sam losing agency over his life and quite literally letting dean, his perpetual north star, take the wheel. and then. i find out that the real reason sam stops driving much is because. they didn't wanna let jared "drive it like it's stolen" padalecki get behind the wheel on set. okay. my fault for trying to drown in a puddle.

I love how there are so many research articles out there — that are backed up by licensed experts and actual victims/survivors — that prove creative writing, including dark fiction, can help a lot of victims and survivors heal from their trauma (not all, obviously, but it works for a lot of people) but there are still some random people on the internet who are like “actually no I support victims and survivors, because I’m such a good person, but if they heal in a way that I personally do not approve of then I am gonna shame them and call them predators. like why would they do that especially without my permission ewww disgusting”

Everything about Season 8 takes my breath away. Everything. Its angst, its beginning, its ending...

And I always felt like I owed something to that season. Owed something to the complicated emotions it managed to hold.

To the fact that Dean wanted to do the Trials himself because he wanted Sam to have a long life, and Sam refused.

"I have to do this, Dean. Because unlike you, I want to live."

And then, in those final moments in the church, Dean finally breaks when he tells Sam that if he keeps going, he's going to die.

And Sam, pale and drenched in sweat, with pain written across every inch of his face, just looks at him and says:

"So?"

That scene in the church—the things Sam says, the fear in Dean's eyes, everything that passes between them in those few minutes—takes my breath away every single time.

And do you know what haunts me most of all?

Time.

The time that had passed. The years that went by while everyone assumed Sam had forgotten, that whatever happened was four or five years behind him now. Like that phone call never happened. Like Sam hadn't lived to believe he's a disappointment to his older brother. Like it wasn't his greatest sin he'd confessed to be finally clean. For a person who'd been struggling with demon blood and guilt for a long time, it's a lot to think he would come clean if only his older brother forgave him from repeated disappointments.

And there he is, pale, sweating, barely holding himself together, after days of coughing up blood, running fevers, barely eating, barely sleeping, carrying damage so severe that even an angel couldn't heal it.

And in that moment of unimaginable vulnerability, he tears the wound open in front of everyone.

A wound we thought had long since scarred over.

A wound that never healed at all.

#season eight does too many things to my heart #Both are exceptionally more beautiful, divine, and HELPLESSLY GORGEOUS #the makeup team did that on purpose as Sam was going to die at the end of the season and Dean was going to suffer #they wanted us to suffer more

The thing is that sex scenes actually are incredible ways to explore character. People are at their most vulnerable during sex! The way they have sex says a lot of very interesting things about their desires, obviously, but also their psychology, their vulnerabilities, their hopes and fears, etc. It is completely insane to me to think that sex scenes have no value other than to sexually excite the audience. And even if their only value is to sexual excite the audience - SO WHAT?? A movie is supposed to excite and entertain you! Grow up!!!

well i've decided i am just gonna manually paste all my created html files of the j2 con panel youtube transcripts into blogger because it's silly how much time i put into it and it only being available to me locally. and realistically, i'm very fast and efficient at data entry stuff, so me just pasting 500 some odd files and doing a few bits of typing with each one won't take me very long

slight hiccup in that blogger doesn't let you search for an exact phrase 😭 so i uh, had to move everything to wordpress. which didn't bring over the nicely documented tags and repeated some data twice, which was probably my poorly set up html. so i'm doing some cleanup of the imported 200 posts, and general wrapping my head around how this all works which is obviously a lot more complicated (but also a lot more customizable) than blogger. but now we have exact phrase searching, which was a must-have. with the quantity of data, it was basically useless without it. JESUS this project refuses to be easy :p

it's still a much more work in progress and i might break the view sometimes but it's here (i will do a proper post for sharing once it's done but for interested parties who want to follow along now)

actually im not done buffy is transgender for real. she's a girl, but she's something else too that the other girls at school aren't, and she knows that that identity automatically makes her an outsider from all the other girls at school. she likes who she is, but sometimes watching Cordelia, she can't help but long for the ease of being "normal". her friends love and support her, but they aren't like her, and she knows that means there are some parts of her life that they'll just never understand. she wants to be homecoming queen so badly, if only to prove to herself that she can be this other thing and also a regular high school girl at the same time. how she tries to hide her identity from her mother for as long as she can. how when she finally tells joyce, they get in a huge argument because joyce is so afraid of what this means for buffy's safety that she tries to stop her from being herself. the fact that buffy, arguing with her mother about her own identity, says "You think I chose to be like this? Do you have any idea how lonely it is? How dangerous?" The fact that a stranger tells her "But you're just a girl." and she says "That's what I keep saying."

1. All-time Favourite Wincest Fics

Once I was well and truly entrenched in the world of wincest, I realised I wanted to honour the works written by some of the amazing fanfic writers in the wincest fandom. Because there are just so many wonderful fics, I decided to post a link to My Bookmarks list on AO3; it's just the tip of the wincest iceberg and for most of the writers with fics on my list, I'd highly recommend their other works too. Many of these fics triggered tears and a literal ache in my heart but there is a mix of angst, pwp, light-hearted, AU's, death fics, omegaverse, early seasons, late seasons, first times etc. etc. Both boys bottom and I've tried to indicate this in my bookmark if it wasn't already in the original tags. I occasionally read fics from LiveJournal or Fanfiction (I am trying to change this but just find the sites so clunky to use) and one of the very first wincest fics I ever read on LiveJournal still happens to be one of my favourites so I've linked that below too. I'm so incredibly grateful to the very talented writers who share their works with us. This is my way of saying thank you so enjoy!

2. SPN Episode-related/inspired Wincest Fic Recs

From October 2024 to August 2025, I rewatched all 15 seasons of SPN. Following each episode I then searched AO3 using a variety of search terms looking for Sam/Dean fics related to/inspired by that episode. I read most of them (although for the first several seasons I did limit fics to certain word counts and tried to limit the number of fic recs to 3-5 but you'll see that I eventually stopped limiting myself because why deprive the world of more wincest?!), selected my favourites of the bunch and posted them on tumblr along with my thoughts on the episode at the time. I wouldn't put too much weight on my ramblings as they're not meant to be too serious or profound. I find on each successive rewatch my thoughts about episodes can vary quite a bit. I'm in awe of the discourse that occurs between fellow wincesties and the depth of their interpretations and psychoanalyses of plots, actions, behaviours, words etc. but that is not me unfortunately. Anyway, as I come across fics that had not been written at the time of my rewatch, I will try to add ones that standout. Enjoy!
