Sorry if i'm akward or strange if you ever reach out my main emotion is fear. I am always scared.

And thus.....the utena rewatch with my friend comes to a close. (Excluding the movie, that's in a day or two).

Honesty I can say for myself that Utena was heavily elevated as a piece of fiction for me on a second watch. Before this I already held it in high regards but I think this second go at it really solidified it as my all time favorite anime, if not just story in general...everything is so well thought out and carefully crafted I would almost give it a 10 if it weren't for the fact I struggle a lot to give anything at all a 10, unless i'm rating something really nostalgic to me like a childhood game/movie/show, which is of course never fully an objective rating since there is a lot of bias there. In my heart it's a 10 but my actual score would be a 9,5 which in my book might as well be a 10 anyway, since it's the highest anything can get objectively from me. So like whatever haha you get what I mean.

My friend gave it a clean 9 and we actually ended up having surprisingly similar opinions and thoughts, only differing in a few interpretations of specific scenes or other minor aspects, but our read on the story itself seems to be the same overall. To be fair I did have a bit more ground to defend myself in this case since i'm pretty familar with RGU already, so when he asked me on my ideas for the doubts he had left post-ending on the entire thing I gave arguments that I would have otherwise really struggled to articulate on the spot, so I think that may have also influenced things a bit.

Picture above is what he labeled as the "Utena Denpa Trio" which he says are the three most Denpa traits/parts of the anime: that being the hands in episode 22, the sudden spinning rose in some scenes, and the scene with Utena and Anthy in one of the last episodes in which they talk and mention having poisoned eachother's food. It really stood out to him so he illustrated that here.

PAINT SAGA IS BACK and we have a lot of content this time because so much happens towards the end of this anime it's nuts. He pulled up paint like 4 or 5 times. With that being said what did he mean by this? He still thinks there are aliens involved

He was also still trying to figure out what exactly is going on with Akio, The Prince, Anthy and Mamiya. He's getting a few things but missing the mark in other aspects because he lacks some information still...this was in the middle of the shadow theatre episode. So yeah. (His theory when he made this was that they lead you to believe Anthy is the witch but it's actually Akio. Then we finished said episode and he drew a bright red cross over this drawing before closing paint without saving. He then said "i'm never theorizing while watching this anime ever again")
