the good old days
image description: a tweet by LarsAddams. What We Do In The Shadows changed the face of the vampire genre forever with the simple proposal: what if they were fucking stupid? / end id
Though the jokes that "since gay pride month is over, july is now gay wrath month" are funny and all, it's important to remember that July is ACTUALLY Disability Pride Month and ya'll should really be focused on boosting disabled voices and issues this month! For instance, the fact that marriage equality doesn't actually truly exist in the United States for disabled people, or the fact that disabled people are forced to live in poverty or lose their disability benefits, or the fact that 1 in 5 people with chronic pain end up sufferring from alcoholism or other addictions, or how accessibility is still a daily battle for all of us, or how there are active hate groups on places like reddit who try to "call out" those they see as "faking" their disabilities.
This July, boost disabled voices. Talk about the issues that our community faces. Call out ableism.

The fact us black ppl gotta remind your yt asses that one wrong look, holding an “odly shaped” object, wearing a hoodie, buying takeout, PICKING UP A FLOWER. being autistic, being gay, being trans, driving home, having a broken taillight, sleeping in our cars, SLEEPING IN OUR OWN HOMES, can get us fucking killed? and you still believe that there are “good” cops? that your racist boyfriend only needs a “fixer upper”, that “it’s fine” you still hang out with your racist friends?
It’s completely beyond me. you guys don’t care. even the ones with blm in their bios, you guys don’t care and you show it with every microagression, every “you’re not like those other black people”, every “well actually —” when any of us talk about anything that affects us. you. don’t. care.
this is ok to reblog but i dont want white people commenting in replies, reblogs or tags either.

Successful trans men
I wish I knew about men like these growing up, I wish I knew that trans men could be successful after a lifetime of never seeing anyone ‘like me’ excelling in life. So here are some trans men - some that you may have heard of, some that you may not - that are successful in a range of careers. Never let being trans hold you back, never think you can’t do something, never think there is not a place for you.

Dozens of deaths are reported as anti-coup protesters defy warnings and take to the streets.
“They are killing us like birds or chickens, even in our homes.”
Just because it’s not being reported on tv. Just because you don’t see it on your timeline. It hasn’t stopped. People are dying every day, in the worst ways to have something a lot of us take for granted.
Please spread awareness.

Texas Police Shot A Black Baby
Once again, police officers decided to use excessive force in a situation that didn’t have to end so terribly.
A robbery suspect was being pursued by the police. They jumped into Daisha Smalls’ car, with her baby, Legend Smalls in the backseat. The suspect was told to drop their pistol and put their hands up. They didn’t comply.
And INSTEAD of doing ANYTHING ELSE to defuse the situation, despite Daisha Smalls refusing to leave the car because HER BABY WAS IN THE BACKSEAT, something she screamed at the top of her lungs to tell the police, they fired shots into her vehicle.
One shot hit Legend in the right side of his head. Doctors had to remove a part of his skull to relieve the swelling, but they couldn’t remove all the fragments. He remains in the ICU to this day. This incident happened on March 3.
The negligence is disgusting and honestly? The fact that the officer that shot this poor baby was just put on ‘administrative leave’ is terrible. The title of this post is true but even if the baby wasn’t black, this would still be so utterly inexcusable. If the police want more respect from the communities they claim to protect, something needs to change about how they respond to situations like these.
A gofundme was set up for Legend though! Even if you can’t donate, reblogging this would be helpful too :)
