No matter how progressive or well-read you are, there are always going to be moments in your life where somebody pushes back against something that's so culturally ingrained you never even considered it before. And you'll say "Huh, it never occurred to me to challenge this but you're right" and that doesn't mean you were "morally toxic" before, it means you're a non-omniscient human capable of growth.
all advertising needs to be destroyed im sick of ads on the free apps that *came with the computer i bought*.. on MY computer! im sick of 15 seconds of advertising before i watch a video made by a zillenial then paid to recite how much they love the new mocoa cocoa drink mix im sick of brands pretending to be my friend im sick of urban space used only to sell you products (later, somewhere else) im sick of subscription services im sick of copyright im sick of new roads for new customers for our new walmart im SICK!!!! burn it all down i can't live like this!!!!

I’m buying a house and we close on Friday. It’s a new construction and is supposed to come with appliances. The contract we signed 45 days ago included the appliances. The appraisal they had done last week says the appraised value is contengient on there being the agreed upon appliances. But we don’t have appliances yet. Weeks ago we spoke to the superintendent for the construction and he said that they are on back order because of a national shortage but they will make sure we have them, if anything they’ll go with upgraded models that are in stock. But still no appliances at the first walkthrough today, 4 days before closing. And now his response was a basically a shrug and to say that it’s above his pay grade, that everyone is needing appliances and they have a contract with the manufacturer so they can’t just run to a store and buy retail ones for us. So I’m anxious. We have movers hired to move our furniture Saturday. We are having the internet switched over Friday night. We can’t not have a stove, microwave, fridge, washer and dryer for an undisclosed amount of time. Do we still close if they haven’t fixed it by Friday? IDK what to do here. And it looks like even if they try to go to like Home Depot today, they still wouldn’t have stock because it’s a national shortage.
Update: they just texted to say that the appliances should arrive and get installed Wednesday! So hopefully no more delays and we can get them inspected and approved in time for close on Friday! I’m so relieved!
Yeah appliances are extremely hard to get right now I’m assuming like all other electronics because they need to be imported in OR because a lot of manufacturers are still closed/running short supply. It’s the same for things like printers right now, webcams are hard to get too. They just literally aren’t coming in.
So, like, people with senior cats, what’s it like? The new cat is probably around 12 and she’s been outdoors, so she’s definitely rough. She can still jump around, but I wouldn’t be surprised if I take her to the vet tomorrow and they tell me that she has arthritis.
I already am going to be getting her soft food and I’m looking into stairs so she can just walk up onto the bed since it’s high. I don’t think she’s had toys before, but I’ve already got a little cat tree and then a five level one coming in this month. Do seniors need anything else? I’ve already got plenty of toys and scratchers for Edda, a separate room to keep her in for the first week or two, and will be getting another water and food bowl set to have on the ground.
I'd recommend buying a soft blanket, I've had many older cats and they really do love a good soft because even if they're mad at you for trying to cuddle they'll definitely cuddle a blanket if it's fluffy
Gotcha! Thank you very much for the advice!
My elderly cat LOVED his heated pad that I put under his favorite blanket, he loved to sit on my bed right next to the window and watch everything, but the first winter I realized he would get cold and quickly bought him one. His prior owners also didn’t take care of his teeth so I bought him some of those treats that are good for his teeth, he loved them. Elevated bowls also make it easier for all cats, especially the elderly, to eat and digest better. And a low entrance litter box is important too, once they start getting arthritis etc even just getting into a higher entrance box can be hard or painful. I also got him pet stairs for the bed because he couldn’t really jump either.
