the face i pull when i get an intrusive thought is the face frodo makes whenever he gets the urge to put on the ring
So true tbh
Calling LotR/Tolkien fans! Tolkien himself called Samwise Gamgee the hero of The Lord of the Rings, and many, many fans these days agree. BUT. I respectfully disagree. I think that Frodo is the hero of the story. I'm looking to make a video essay to that affect.
IF you agree, I'd love to hear your thoughts, and quote and credit you in my essay if you're okay with that. PLEASE NOTE: I'm not looking to hear arguments as to why Sam is the real hero of the story. I've heard them. I don't even disagree that he's vitally important. I just think that it overlooks how necessary Frodo is, because I don't think anyone else, Sam included, could have gotten the Ring all the way to Mount Doom. Frodo's failure to cast it into the fire is not something I hold against him.
So, if you're in the Frodo-is-the-hero camp, I'd love to hear from you!
I agree! I think Frodo is LOTR's hero for 2 simple reasons specifically:
He's the one who volunteered to take the ring and accepts the irreversible damage it does to him as part of the deal.
He's the main and most important POV character of all three books.
I do agree that all of the heroes are... well, LOTR's heroes but I don't get how people read the books/watch the movies where we basically spend half of the entire focus on Frodo, his life, his thoughts, feelings and inner world and struggles of volunteering to destroy the evil jewellry that's threatening the world and the stakes of it, almost dying in the process, only for them to call Sam the "true hero" lol
Sam: People will tell stories about our adventures for years!
Frodo: I'd prefer they told stories about how I lived to be a hundred and died in a very comfortable chair.

WHY didn’t they end the lotr trilogy with the door to bag end, as opposed to a random house? is there actually a reason for that?? in my opinion, it could have been such a lovely, emotional, cyclical ending.
i kind of understand that they didn’t have time to explain the entire history of sam and rosie moving in with frodo, but i think it’s as simple as ‘show, don’t tell’? especially in a film trilogy with such intense depth and lore to it, which is explained quite clearly, without having assumed the viewer has any book-related prerequisite knowledge.
maybe i’m seeing this from the wrong lens, as i’m obviously a huge fan and have never been a ‘casual enjoyer’ per se (i’m going off someone who would enjoy the films but probably hasn’t read the books). would it be confusing to a person, going in totally clueless of the plot, to show sam and rosie walking into bag end, rather than a random hobbit hole?
i don’t know, to me it just feels like it would still be really easy to understand that they inherited bag end when frodo left middle earth. sam was so devoted to him!! we should totally see that final reminder of his existence in the shire!! i think it would have served as a really lovely final shot of the film!!
just my thoughts on it ^_^
It’s always ‘I love nerds’ until my brain fails to separate fiction from reality and now I’m genuinely heartbroken over Frodo Baggins
Peak SamFroSie moment

Why do I have a feeling that people who never faced depression don't understand Frodo as much as people who had experienced it?
It's just that feeling of something invisible eating you out from inside, and yeah, other people might know what it is and why are you like that, but it's not the same as living through it.
I don't like how much Frodo is overlooked and neglected. Every time me and my sister watch LOTR we end up having a debate lol
yes some of my frodo headcanons are just me projecting my ocd onto him, because why would they not be??
dude of course that little guy would be weird about washing his hands. and now they’re all dry and cracked (sam brings some form of moisturiser with him in his pocket and then whenever they’re out of the house and he’s complaining about his hands being all cold and dry and horrible, sam is ‘like oh here you go mister frodo!’)
he soooo gets intrusive thoughts and he soooo has to make a weird little noise or an action to get it out of his head when he’s just trying to chill.
Another OCD person imagining Frodo exactly knowing what we go through is what I needed today :')
Can lotr fandom finally learn how to read and realize that Frodo is NOT useless💔
as per my previous reblog. i think the only time samwise gamgee should be able to say ‘fuck’ is when people are like “frodo was useless!! sam was the real hero!!” because then sam could tell them all to FUCK OFF.

Post-Quest samfro is wonderful because I feel like so much of it will be Sam going oh my god now that we're back in the Shire are our social statuses the same as always? should we go back to how it was? should I stop snuggling him to sleep or taking his hand when he's tired or waking him up with a forehead kiss? after all I am just a simple hobbit and he is a gentlehobbit and is so much above me and I have nothing to rival with him and now that we're back home...
Meanwhile Frodo is out there thinking that Sam is the best hobbit to ever exist and he is blessed to have Sam looking at him every single day and that Sam is actually superior to him in every way and if there's anyone who doesn't deserve this closeness is him because of how much the Quest changed him and that Sam is so so wonderful and the best and Sam so is much better than him, Frodo, in every possible way it's a marvel that Sam is still by his side now that's they're home and he's free to go about with his life like he wants and that Sam-
fun fact tolkein was gonna name frodo bingo bolger baggins and its just…so funny
“bingo bolger dont go where i cant follow”
“for bingo bolger”
“theres some good in this world bingo bolger”
“Mr bingo bolger!” “Master bingo bolger!!”
This is truly hilarious OMG I needed this reminder XD
